>can't find replacement door gasket is only reason i'm not using it
>one of these days i'll get around to making one
You won't find a direct replacement but there exists several universal replacement gasket materials and types. The black foam type works best IMO. I used non-adhesive because my 1949 Marquette Magic Matic freezer used a gasket that tucks under the liner.
Dig around and you can find it in various places. The trickiest part is cutting perfect 45 degree corners so get a couple extra feet and practice a bit. Once the cuts are good you use superglue to "weld" the material.
