JEJU Air flight 2216 Muan South Korea crash
Jeju Air Flight 2216, a Boeing 737-800 registered HL8088, was involved in an accident at Muan International Airport (MWX/RKJB), South Korea. The aircraft made a gear-up landing on runway 19. It slid pas the end of the runway and collided with the ILS localizer antenna array and a wall. The aircraft disintegrated and burst into flames.
Korean officials reported 151 occupants were confirmed dead, at least two occupants have survived the accident.
ADS-B data from the flight stopped at 23:58 UTC (08:58 LT) when the aircraft was on final approach to runway 01, at 1.24 nm from the threshold.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the control tower warned Flight 2216 of a bird strike just before landing. About one minute after the bird strike warning, the pilot issued a 'Mayday'.
Video footage show the aircraft landing gear up on runway 19, the opposite direction of the initial approach and intended landing direction.
MWX runway 19 has a Landing Distance Available (LDA) of 2800 m.
