It's not faith but a social agreement. We will print the money. Okay, we as a society will use it when exchanging for goods. No different than any other currency before such as Tally sticks.

Well it's been like that for most of all human history Gold and Silver coins among it's other uses for statues etc… Wasn't until quite recently has precious metals been used in electronic components.
