Most have a cellular modem built in. Even if you don't "pay" for onboard wifi hotspot, it is still turned on for basic data to the manufacturer, and for remote starting via an app etc.
Yep, the banks, the insurance companies, the manufacturers, and who knows who else is watching your every move while you drive. Inside cameras and vehicle assistance mics record you and your conversations. No privacy whatsoever.
The only way this stops is if the public is made fully aware of what is going on, and they get pissed, and there is massive outrage. Only then can changes take place.
When millions of people start calling their congressmen, or when an auto manufacture comes along that doesn't do this, and everyone flocks to them, causing them to outsell their competition by 4 times…. Then maybe changes will take place.
