The Chicoms says this because that means "freakazoid cult" to most. But it seems to be simply a modern melding of Zen, Taoism and Confucianism, three of the oldest and distinctively Chinese religious traditions. Falun Gong is much more authentically "Chinese" than followers of a second-rate German philosopher.
