Musk says raising the salaries will solve the H1B problem.
That's a lie. If it wasn't, he'd eliminate job offers posted for H1B's. He's just going to pay them a little bit more.
Remember- all the H1B visa asks for is a Bachelor's degree level education in a specialty. It's the O-1 visa that asks for proven exceptionalism.
It seems not very long ago students by the loads were going into computer science and engineering programs in the U.S. and not just foreigners. We don't have a shortage of people willing to work. Just a shortage of employers saying "yes" to American citizens.
Those Tesla salary offers we see and other tech salary levels- except for the tech companies in big city, silicon valley type areas, are not bad. Especially if you currently are not working because you got laid off due to Covid or whatever other excuse.
How about employing the laid off workers first? Or is this just a continuation of the drive to dismantle the U.S. workforce?
