i worked for a pretty big company with multiple branches throughout the southeast in steel

they started me, as a skilled tradesman mind you, at $10 an hour

busted my ass, showed up and outperformed, learned every area of the floor

lead man moved to another department so they put me in his spot

never gave me a higher status, used me to do my job on top of training new hires from a temp agency, and had to fix their fuck ups while staying late multiple times to work on special projects that required precision finish work

know what i left at after 5 years? $14.50 a fucking hour just months before the boss hired the son of a high school friend of his at $1 less than i started out at

so why should i stay? where's the incentive there? when burger flippers make near the same amount of money

yep it's fucked

then one year, about 2 years after i was there, they handed out a paper showing what just our branch made in profit after all the overhead and expenses

it was $33 million

and when there were some complaints they never handed out that report again and our department supervisor straight up told us during a meeting that we could all leave and they'd have temp workers from the temp agency there by lunch time

i misspoke in the last reply too - they hired that 18 year old kid at $13 an hour - $1.50 less than what i worked 5 years to get

so fuck that place indeed

you're pretending like the entire system from education to making husband and wife work longer hours to make ends meet isn't all connected and done by design for precisely this end game

>we need more foreigners because x, y, z!

not everybody had rich parents thanks to preferential treatment giving them $1 million dollar head start and a free ride to an ivy league school, vivek
