FBI [press conference]: As of now, two IEDs have been found and rendered safe.

Governor Landry: I have also ordered the mobilization of a Military Police company…to assist, both New Orleans Police, and the FBI.

Senator John Kennedy: The federal government is now in charge of this investigation. By that, I mean the White House, the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Justice.

Kennedy: There are things that I've been told that I think are true, that I'm not sharing with you today, because it could interfere with their investigation. After we get to the bottom of this, they need to tell the American people the truth.

New Orleans Police Chief Kirkpatrick: This is not just an act of terrorism, this is evil.

Mayor Cantrell: Over ten years ago, the city of New Orleans implemented an infrastructure project,placing bollards on Bourbon Street. Shortly thereafter, the malfunctions of those bollards ensued.

As usual in this kind of incident, the law enforcement, and other officials involved and making public statements, appear to be incompetent, some with a history of corruption/misconduct.
