Russia intercepts eight US-supplied ATACMS missiles

The latest Ukrainian attack on Belgorod Region will elicit an appropriate response, the Russian Defense Ministry has said

The incoming munitions were repelled by Russia’s S-400 and Pantsir-SM air defense systems, the military said. The ministry did not provide any information about the exact target of the attack or about any damage or casualties that may have been inflicted.

“The actions of the Kiev regime, supported by its Western handlers, will elicit retaliatory measures,” the military stressed.

Over the past few weeks, Ukrainian forces have repeatedly carried out long-range attacks on internationally-recognized Russian territory using various Western-supplied weaponry, including US-made ATACMS ballistic and French-British cruise missiles. The strikes came after some of Kiev’s Western backers lifted the restrictions they had imposed on the use of the long-range weaponry they had provided.

Announced plans to introduce digital ID legislation for age verification purposes, meaning that young people will soon be able to use digital ID wallets on their phones to prove they are over 18 when visiting pubs, restaurants and shops.

Several Michigan lawmakers are expressing outrage about plans to lease 420 acres of state forestland for a solar farm in Otsego County.

An official with the state Department of Natural Resources confirmed the agency continues to respond to multiple inquiries from legislators about siting solar panels on state-managed public lands after an MLive report published Thursday. Several Republican state lawmakers issued statements on Friday, arguing anyone at the DNR responsible for this decision should be fired.

DNR leadership recently decided to request bids for a solar project on public trust lands in Hayes Township, just west of Gaylord at the 45th Parallel. The effort would be a companion project to two other solar farms in the works on nearby private land.

All three solar installations would take advantage of proximity to a high-voltage power transmission line that runs through the area.

Rep. Massie Calls Out House Rules Package for Including Measure to Protect Netanyahu

The package includes a bill to sanction the ICC, which has issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) has called out House leadership for including a bill as part of a proposed rules package designed to protect Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The rules package, which is set to be voted on Friday after the new House elects its speaker, includes a bill to sanction the International Criminal Court, which recently issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu, former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Hamas military leader Mohammed Deif.

“The United States is a sovereign country, so I don’t assign any credibility to decisions of the International Criminal Court,” Massie wrote on X. “But how did a bill to protect Netanyahu make it into the House rules package to be voted on immediately after the Speaker vote? Where are our priorities?!”

The bill would impose sanctions “with respect to the International Criminal Court engaged in any effort to investigate, arrest, detain, or prosecute any protected person of the United States and its allies.”

The House passed a bill to sanction the ICC last year, but it was not taken up by the Senate. The US does have a law on the books that authorizes the use of military force against the Hague-based ICC to free any US or allied government officials or service members, nicknamed the Hague Invasion Act.

Massie is often the sole Republican in the House who votes against pro-Israel legislation and has been outspoken about the influence of the Israel lobby on Congress. In an interview with Tucker Carlson last year, Massie said every Republican in Congress except him has an “AIPAC babysitter,” referring to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, one of the most powerful lobbying groups in the country.

Massie has also gone against his own party by opposing the re-election of Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), who has been endorsed by President-elect Donald Trump. Johnson played a decisive role in passing the $95 billion foreign military aid that President Biden signed into law last year.
