Plea Hearing in Sept. 11 Case Postponed to Jan. 10

A judge cited winter weather and a federal holiday for Jimmy Carter’s funeral as reasons for the delay. Government lawyers may also try again to overturn the plea deal.

NEWS: The U.S. has been secretly planning to send a disabled Iraqi prisoner at Guantanamo Bay to serve his war crimes sentence at a prison in Baghdad.

Today, his lawyers went to court to stop the transfer on grounds he would be at risk in his homeland.

Guantánamo Convict Sues to Stop U.S. Plan to Send Him to Prison in Iraq

A court filing said the prisoner was at risk for abuse and might not be able to get adequate health care if transferred.
