JUST IN: President Biden forced to cancel event after the windstorm that is fueling the Palisades Fire struck Thermal, California.
The Los Angeles Fire Department has issued a mandatory evacuation order for people in the Palisades area.
Sadly, peak wind speeds aren't expected for another 12 hours meaning the fires will likely get much worse.
"The peak winds are still 12 hours away. Just about everything is going to get worse before it gets better," said UCLA climate scientist Daniel Swain.
Wind speeds of up to 80 mph are expected in some areas.
Biden, who is in Los Angeles, was expected to deliver remarks on the creation of new national monuments in California.
