Canada has no sovereignty. It is a vassal of the UK, part of the Commonwealth.
POTUS making a move on Canada is just a reflection of the fact that the UK (the heart of the old guard) has fallen.
Now, with their sovereign gone, Canada needs a new patron. We can't have that patron be anyone other than the US.
