Increase of power grid faults recorded hours before LA wildfires started: report
According to Whisker Labs, a company specializing in monitoring electrical activity, there was a significant increase in faults hours before the Eaton, Palisades ,and Hurst Fires began.
An unusual increase in electrical faults was recorded in Los Angeles power grids just hours before the ignition of three major wildfires.
According to Whisker Labs, a company specializing in monitoring electrical activity, there was a significant increase in faults hours before the Eaton, Palisades, and Hurst Fires began. The company’s CEO, Bob Marshall, told Fox News that their network of 14,000 “ting” sensors across the city detected a significant increase in faults.
"Faults are caused by tree limbs touching wires or wires blowing in the wind and touching. That creates a spark in a fault, and we detect all of those things," Marshall explained. Other factors that can cause faults include things like equipment igniting, a surge in demand, or earthquake tremors.
Data obtained by the company and shared with Fox News found that in the area where the Palisades Fire broke out, 63 faults were recorded 2–3 hours before ignition, with 18 faults logged during the hour it began. The Eaton Fire near Altadena saw 317 faults before it started, and the Hurst Fire had 230. Typically, only a few faults occur daily.
Sparks from faults can ignite vegetation, and high winds can then spread rapidly. So far, officials have not announced an official cause for the fires that broke out last week. However, this new data could be an indication and serve as clues used by investigators.
"Importantly, what we cannot say is whether one of those faults caused the fire. We don't know that," Marshall said. "What we know from our data is that there were increasing faults in the grid in the area around where those fires ignited."
Marshall also pointed out that the data revealed the power was not shut off right away when the faults were rising. However, he reiterated, “we can't say definitively at all whether one of those faults caused a fire. I do want to be very, very clear about that.”
The revelation comes after regulatory filings reported on Friday by the Wall Street Journal found that the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power failed to proactively turn off power to mitigate wildfire risks ahead of the fires. This preventative measure is used by most major California power companies because utilities have caused wildfires in the past.
The Journal reported that a spokesperson for the department explained there are other safety precautions in place, and that widespread power outages as preventative measures could jeopardize emergency services.

Vatican welcomes gay priests
Homosexuals joining the priesthood must remain in the closet, according to new directive from the Holy See
The document was agreed by the CIE in November and published on Thursday with authorization from the Vatican. It will remain in force for a trial period of three years.
It states that “persons with homosexual tendencies” wishing to join the clergy must commit to celibacy, as their straight counterparts also do.
However, the document continues, the Church “cannot admit to the Seminary and to Holy Orders those who practice homosexuality, present deeply rooted homosexual tendencies or support the so-called gay culture."
“The aforementioned persons find themselves, in fact, in a situation that seriously hinders correct relationships with men and women,” it states.

Special Counsel Jack Smith Resigns After Finishing Trump Investigations
Special Counsel Jack Smith resigned from the Department of Justice on Friday, days after finishing his criminal investigations into President-elect Donald Trump and ahead of his inauguration.
According to a footnote in a court filing sent to U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon on Saturday afternoon, Smith concluded his investigations on Tuesday and would depart from the DOJ on Friday. The court filing from DOJ officials asked Cannon not to further extend a court order she issued in January to block the release of Smith’s report into Trump temporarily.

NSW health system in crisis as hundreds of psychiatrists due to resign in 10 days over a pay dispute
Doctors in one state have hit back after the Health Minister pleaded for psychiatrists to not quit in days, saying he’s “spitting the dummy when no one wants to work for them”.
A doctors union has hit back at the NSW health minister after he pleaded for hundreds of psychiatrists not to quit in mere days, saying he spat the dummy because no one wants to work for them.
NSW’s health system is about to face a huge crisis as hundreds of psychiatrists are due to leave their job in 10 days amid an ongoing pay dispute.
About 200 psychiatrists resigned en masse from NSW Health after negotiations for a 25 per cent pay increase broke down.
Psychiatrists raised the alarm about the state’s mental health system with NewsWire earlier this week, with one doctor claiming staff were overworked and unable to provide the care they needed to.
Currently only one-third of staff specialist psychiatrist positions in NSW are filled, and this crisis is set to worsen if hundreds of psychiatrists leave their position on January 21.
Beds in intensive mental health care units are already being left empty due to staff shortages, leaving patients to be turned away and other services picking up the pieces.

War Room founder Steve Bannon called out Mark Zuckerberg on Friday and referred to him as “one of the worst people in this country.”
“We’ve had nerd rule. We saw what nerd rule was about stealing the election and, we saw what nerd rule was during the pandemic and, guess what? This country does not want nerd rule, and not going back to it. We are not letting people like you call the shots,” Bannon said.
Bannon also called for an investigation of the 2020 election steal.
“I believe strongly sir as the vast criminal conspiracy investigation which has got to go back to 2020, yes I know certain people don’t want to hear it, but it’s got to happen. I believe that you will be charged with crimes sir,” Bannon said of Zuckerberg.
“Remember the base hates you, despises you, you’re revolting for what you did to this country,” Bannon continued of Zuckerberg.
Bannon showed a clip of Zuckerberg on Joe Rogan’s podcast trying to explain his point of view. After the clip, Bannon weighed in on Zuckerberg’s explanations.
“Zuckerberg, you’re one of the worst people in this country. We are not going to turn this country back over to you nerds,” Bannon said.
“Everything he said right there is a lie. That’s all spin,” Bannon said.
Bannon also said that War Room was banned from Facebook for calling out the 2020 election fraud.
“We were banned and taken down. I remember, we built this show off of Facebook,” Bannon said.
“Everything we said dude was about the stealing of that election that was stolen and that’s why you took us down, and that’s why you tried to shut everybody up after you spent 450 million dollars of your own money to defeat Trump,” Bannon continued.
