I think it is inevitable that others will think critically and question what you claim to be true.

Isn't the real problem to call it gaslighting and avoid clarifying things?

Is this correct?

Well, those who say ‘QAnon’ and make money or create cults may also be in the enemy category.

So, is it correct to say that the word ‘QAnon’ has been corrupted by the enemy?

Hmmm.

MSNBC’s Mohyeldin: Netanyahu Denied Harris Ability to Run on Ceasefire ‘by Design’

16 Jan 2025

On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Alex Wagner Tonight,” MSNBC host Ayman Mohyeldin reacted to the ceasefire and hostage release deal by arguing that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “could have delivered this victory to Joe Biden eight months ago, prior to a U.S. election in which the U.S. candidate for the Democratic Party, the vice president, could have been running on a ceasefire deal. He did not do that. And he did not do that, by design,” and “it is hard to imagine that the Prime Minister of Israel has entered into this ceasefire deal without knowing that, on the back end of it, down the road, there [are] going to be some chips to be cashed in with the Trump administration.”

Mohyeldin said, [relevant remarks begin around 12:30] “We’re rightfully focusing on what Trump has brought to this equation in…the ceasefire deal. I think what is also important to notice is what the Prime Minister of Israel has done over the past several months in being able to game American politicians to get to this point. Benjamin Netanyahu is a shrewd and smart politician. That is undeniable. He could have delivered this victory to Joe Biden eight months ago, prior to a U.S. election in which the U.S. candidate for the Democratic Party, the vice president, could have been running on a ceasefire deal. He did not do that. And he did not do that, by design, not because he simply was sitting back there and saying, that deal is not good. Nothing has changed in the past eight months, dramatically, in terms of the deal.”

He continued, “And so, my point to that is, it is hard to imagine that the Prime Minister of Israel has entered into this ceasefire deal without knowing that, on the back end of it, down the road, there [are] going to be some chips to be cashed in with the Trump administration. Now, could that be the desire to annex the West Bank? Could that be the desire to repopulate northern Gaza with Israeli settlers? Could that be a strike on Iran that would require American military involvement and direct military cover for Israel if Iran gets struck? And all of these factors are now on the table for the Israeli Prime Minister to actually use against the administration of Donald Trump to say, hey, look, we gave you a win on day one, we released the hostages, we entered into this deal. You now are beholden to us and what we want to do with some of these issues across the region.”

German opposition leader adapts Trump MAGA slogan

15 Jan, 2025 19:10

Alice Weidel, co-chair of the Alternative for Germany party, is calling to ‘Make Europe Great Again’

Alice Weidel, a co-leader of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, has apparently adapted US President-elect Donald Trump’s MAGA (‘Make America Great Again’) slogan, but for her own continent. The politician has called to ‘Make Europe Great Again’ in a post on X on Wednesday.

Weidel was responding to a post drawing parallels between her party’s program and policies advocated by Trump and US-based tech billionaire Elon Musk. The SpaceX and Tesla CEO, who also owns X, has endorsed AfD and interviewed Weidel live on his platform last week.

During the interview, the German politician described AfD as a “libertarian conservative party” that is seeking to reduce bureaucracy and “free the people from the state.” Musk also repeatedly stated that “only AfD can save Germany” ahead of the 2025 snap parliamentary election in the EU nation scheduled for late February.

The early vote was announced following the collapse of a three-party coalition led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Social Democrats and a subsequent vote of no confidence in his remaining minority government in December.

Musk also interviewed Donald Trump last year as a gesture of support for the Republican's ultimately successful presidential bid.

The ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA) slogan was popularized by Trump during his first successful election campaign in 2016 and then used by him again in 2024. The MAGA acronym is also often used to describe his supporters and political base.

The tech billionaire’s interview with Weidel last week drew some controversy in Germany. Over 60 German universities and research institutes announced their departure from X, citing the supposedly “increasing radicalization” on the site. Two labor unions and the top federal court have also departed from the platform.

The German Defense Ministry and the Armed Forces (the Bundeswehr) followed suit on Wednesday by announcing that they will no longer make any posts on the platform, claiming that X makes it “difficult to have a factual exchange.”

Late OpenAI whistleblower’s mother disputes his suicide

16 Jan, 2025 09:33

The mother of late OpenAI whistleblower Suchir Balaji has questioned the official ruling on her son’s death and called for a full investigation, in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, released on Thursday.

Poornima Ramarao argued that crucial evidence contradicts the suicide determination, and said her son was troubled by OpenAI’s alleged unethical practices before his death.

Ramarao also noted that her son had been in possession of documents that could have damaged the company. “He had the documents against OpenAI,” she stated, adding that the files contain critical information, and that efforts are now being made to retrieve them.

Balaji, a 26-year-old AI researcher, was found dead in his San Francisco apartment on November 26, 2024. Authorities ruled his death a suicide, but his family has disputed the conclusion, citing inconsistencies in the official investigation. In response to public scrutiny, the San Francisco Police Department later updated the status of Balaji’s case from “Closed – Suicide” to “Open and Active Investigation.”

Balaji had resigned from OpenAI in August 2024, voicing concerns over the company’s alleged misuse of copyrighted material for AI training. In an interview with The New York Times weeks before his death, Balaji stated that OpenAI’s data practices could be in violation of copyright laws.

Poornima Ramarao has told journalist Tucker Carlson that her son Suchir Balaji had documents that could damage the tech company

During her interview with Carlson, Ramarao claimed that forensic evidence contradicted the official account. Specifically, she pointed to the autopsy, which determined that the bullet angle was 30 to 45 degrees, which she argued was inconsistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She further stated that the private autopsy had also revealed additional head injuries, suggesting signs of a struggle. “There is a head injury on the left side of the head,” she stated.

Ramarao described her son’s last days, recalling that he had returned from a trip with friends in high spirits, and had made career plans. “He had a non-profit in mind. He didn’t want to take a salary for his work. He said, ‘Mom, I have enough resources. I want to serve humanity,’” she recalled. She questioned how someone so focused on the future could take his own life.

She also accused OpenAI of failing to acknowledge Balaji’s contributions to the company. “He was vital in the ChatGPT team… but the irony is, he was never acknowledged by OpenAI,” she said. According to Ramarao, OpenAI only contacted the family regarding Balaji’s stock options, not to offer condolences or support.

The family has continued to call for an independent investigation into Balaji’s death. “We want justice. We want the death sentence to the one who killed my son, as well as imprisonment for people who are behind it,” Ramarao told Carlson.

Pope confirms files on Vatican’s ‘dark dealings’

15 Jan, 2025 08:46

The pontiff has revealed the existence of documents relating to a series of abuse and corruption scandals in the Catholic Church

A sitting Pope has for the first time revealed the existence of files detailing “abuse” and “dark dealings” in the Catholic Church. Pope Francis has confirmed that he inherited a “large white box” of documents detailing crimes by clergy when he took over from his predecessor Benedict XVI. The revelation features in the pontiff’s autobiography, Spera (Hope).

Francis became Pope in 2013 following the unexpected resignation of Benedict XVI, formerly German Cardinal Ratzinger, who was the first pontiff in almost 600 years to step down, citing deteriorating health. The papacy of Benedict, who died in December 2022, was marred by revelations of sexual abuse scandals in the Catholic Church which he was accused of having covered up.

The last year of his tenure was further smeared by the ‘Vatileaks’ scandal – a series of leaks which exposed allegations of corruption, internal conflicts, and financial mismanagement within the Vatican.

“He gave me a large white box,” Francis writes, recalling his visit to Benedict at Castel Gandolfo, the papal summer residence near Rome, shortly after his election. “‘Everything is in here,’ he told me. ‘Documents relating to the most difficult and painful situations. Cases of abuse, corruption, dark dealings, wrongdoings,’” he said, according to The Guardian.

Benedict told him the box contained documents about the actions he had taken and the people he had “removed,” adding that it was now Francis’ turn.

“I have continued along his path,” the pontiff said in his book.

The book, co-written by Italian author Carlo Musso was released on Tuesday and, according to its publisher Mondadori, is the first time a sitting Pope has written such a personal chronicle, although Francis has published other memoir-style works in the past.

Francis also advocates for greater female involvement in ecclesiastical life, saying ”the Church is female – it is not male,” although he ruled out women becoming priests.

The 88-year-old pontiff also recalls his youth in Buenos Aires, Argentina, including a fight with a fellow student who ”even lost his senses” after hitting his head when thrown to the ground, according to CNN.

Even as leader of the Catholic Church, Francis admits he is still committing ”mistakes and sins.”

The memoir also recounts pivotal moments in his papacy, including two assassination attempts during his 2021 visit to Iraq.

Biden to remove Cuba from terrorism list

15 Jan, 2025 01:36

President Joe Biden has notified Congress of his intent to remove Cuba from the US list of state sponsors of terrorism, in a bid to facilitate the release of “political prisoners” through a deal brokered by the Catholic Church, the White House has announced.

Senior US administration officials told the Associated Press on Tuesday that “many dozens” of detainees, whom Washington considers “unjustly” held, would be released by the end of Biden’s term on January 20. In exchange, Washington plans to ease some economic pressures on Havana, including reversing aspects of a 2017 memorandum that toughened the US stance toward Cuba.

“In taking these steps to bolster the ongoing dialogue between the government of Cuba and the Catholic Church, President Biden is also honoring the wisdom and counsel that has been provided to him by many world leaders,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed in a statement

Donald Trump blacklisted Havana in the final days of his first term and could do so again

The Cuban government described the US decision as a “step in the right direction” but stressed that most of the economic blockade and sanctions remain in force, continuing to hinder the island’s development. Havana highlighted that ongoing fuel import restrictions, trade bans, and financial penalties severely impact its population.

Cuba also criticized the timing of the decision, noting that it comes near the end of Biden’s presidency and warning that the incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump could undo the measures.

“This is a rectification introduced on the verge of a change of government… when it should have been materialized years ago,” the Cuban Foreign Ministry said.

Trump reinstated Cuba’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism in January 2021, citing support for Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro and sheltering US fugitives. Biden had backed Cuba’s removal from the list during former President Barack Obama’s tenure but up until now did not reverse Trump’s policy, even imposing additional sanctions during his time in office.

Trump’s transition team has yet to confirm whether the President-elect will reverse the move. Several Republican lawmakers criticized Biden’s action. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) called the decision “unacceptable on its merits” and pledged to work with Trump to “immediately reverse” it. Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-Florida) also condemned the move, calling Biden a “pathetic coward.”
