This might have already been in notables earlier today, but someone who Elon Musk follows got him to admit in a private DM that he employs other people to play not only his Path of Exile 2 account, but also his Diablo 4 account where he claimed to have a world record.
Not only this, but Musk makes the bizarre claim to justify it that "It's impossible to beat the players in Asia if you don't, as they do."
First of all, not only is he saying here that it is okay to cheat if the people above you on the leaderboard are cheating (which it is not) he is also ACCUSING ALL OF THOSE PEOPLE OF BEING CHEATERS AS WELL.
He does so without any evidence that these players are cheating, which is irrelevant to his own cheating, but also incredibly disrespectful to other members of those games' respective communities.
On top of this, he doesn't understand that you cannot claim a world record in a game unless 100% of the progress that led to that world record was done by yourself. You cannot simply have someone else boost your Diablo 4 character to a massively overpowered level, clear a map with it, and then claim you have the fastest clear time for that map.
This man is absolutely clueless about how the entire videogame community works. He is clearly an outsider and a casual interloper trying to use it for unearned status.
The thing that makes this even more insulting to the gaming community is that the majority of top competitive players now stream their play sessions.
ALL of their play sessions.
If they are playing the game, they are streaming, and there is a recording of them doing it, usually with a video of at least their face, but often also their hands in top level play.
The man just accused every single person above him on the leaderboards of cheating and he doesn't even realize it.
THAT is how out of touch this man is.
Holy cow.
Let me summarize how ridiculous this entire situation is in one sentence:
Elon Musk is so rich that he thinks it's normal to pay other people to play videogames for you.
Now ask yourself whether he got to the top of the billionaire leaderboard legitimately if this is how unscrupulous he is with a simple videogame.
