Four Lawsuits Targeting DOGE Already Filed While Musk Watched Inauguration

In less than 30 minutes on Monday, Elon Musk and his so-called Department of Government Efficiency were hit with four different lawsuits over the legal status of the effort to find federal regulations to eliminate and federal employees to fire.

The lawsuits landed as Musk rubbed elbows with fellow billionaires at President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

As Trump crowed during his speech about DOGE and sending astronauts to Mars, government watchdogs and civil society organizations filed litigation claiming DOGE violates federal law because of its structure and secrecy.

“Currently, DOGE is operating unchecked, without authorization or funding from Congress and is led by unelected billionaires who are not representative of ordinary Americans,” said Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, in a statement announcing one of the lawsuits, which it filed alongside the American Federation of Teachers and other groups.

Another lawsuit was filed by National Security Counselors, a nonprofit law firm.

The third lawsuit came courtesy of Public Citizen, a consumer protection group, and the American Federation of Government Employees, the largest union for federal workers.

Unions have spent the months since the election steeling themselves for a fight over DOGE.

The fourth suit, from the Center for Biological Diversity, per Politico “…seeks all records from the Office of Management and Budget relating to DOGE. ”

Although DOGE is styled as a “department,” Trump lacks the legal authority to create official departments without legislation from Congress.

Disney Slapped With $10B Copyright Infringment Lawsuit By Animataor Claiming Company Stole His Script

Filmmaker sues The Walt Disney Company for copyright infringement

The Walt Disney Company is being sued by an animator who claims the media conglomerate plagiarized substantial parts of a script he wrote in the media conglomerate’s hit movies “Moana” and “Moana 2”.

According to the lawsuit filed January 10 in California federal court, writer Buck Woodall claims the Moana films exhibit “breathtaking” similarities to his script for the animated feature he created, “Bucky the Wave Warrior” or “Bucky.”

Both Woodall’s script and the “Moana” movies allegedly include a demigod with a giant hook and tattoos, a teenage protagonist on a “dangerous voyage across Polynesian waters” to rescue an “endangered” island, “ancient spirits manifested as animals which guide and guard the living.” Woodall claims that the feature film that Disney copied was inspired by his “unique exposure” to Polynesian culture.

Disney is accustomed to having allegations of lifted intellectual property leveled against the entertainment company.

Disney saw its most recent troubling incident with pilfered intellectual property issues last year, when an Oakland jury found that Disney infringed on a visual effecst company called Rearden’s intellectual property after the movie studio used copyrighted technology to animate characters in Beauty and the Beast.

In the Beauty and the Beast case, Disney could have had to pay out more than $100 million after the case based on allegations that the movie’s success in theaters was due to Rearden’s video effects work.

Moana’s take at the box office has been nothing short of astonishing.

The 2016 Disney film Moana grossed $687.2 million worldwide. The film made $248.7 million in the U.S. and Canada, and $438.4 million in other countries

Just two months after Moana 2 exploded into theaters, when it earned Disney the biggest Thanksgiving opening weekend in box office history, the sequel passed $1 billion at the global box office.

Problems with intellectual honesty aren’t the only problems Disney has.

Former Oakland Democrat Mayor Sheng Thao Indicted On Bribery, Fraud Charges

Former Oakland Democrat Mayor Sheng Thao and three other individuals were indicted on federal corruption charges last week for their part in an alleged bribery scheme.

The U.S. Department of Justice said in a statement that in addition to Thao, her longtime romantic partner, Andre Jones, and local businessmen David Trung Duong and Andy Hung Duong were also charged in the case.

“In the weeks leading up to the City of Oakland mayoral election in November 2022 and following her election as mayor, Thao promised to take official actions as the mayor of Oakland to benefit David Duong and Andy Duong, in exchange for the Duongs providing various benefits to Thao and Jones,” the statement said, according to the recently unsealed indicted.

David Duong was the president and CEO of a recycling company that provided residential recycling collection services to Oakland households, and was also the chairman and co-owner of a housing company formed to develop and manufacture prefabricated modular homes, the DOJ said. Andy Duong, David Duong’s son, was an employee of the recycling company and also a founder and co-owner of the housing company.

“The indictment describes that Thao promised to commit the City of Oakland to purchase housing units from the Duongs’ housing company, extend the City’s contract with the Duongs’ recycling company, and appoint city officials selected by the Duongs,” the statement continued. “In exchange, David and Andy Duong promised to and did fund a $75,000 negative mailer campaign targeting Thao’s opponents in the mayoral election, and made $95,000 in payments to Jones for a no-show job with their housing company, with the promise of additional payments, all intended for the benefit of Thao and Jones.”

Prosecutors said that once Thao became mayor in January 2023, she allegedly continued the corrupt scheme by following through on delivering her end of the deal.

“Defendants allegedly took steps to conceal their bribery scheme by, among other actions: at Thao’s direction, making the bribe payments to Jones to avoid a paper trail to Thao; misrepresenting that Jones had a legitimate job with the Duongs’ housing company to mask the bribery payments; creating false invoices for the bribe payments from the Duongs’ recycling company; and failing to disclose benefits received on California Form 700, Statement of Economic Interests,” the statement added.

All four defendants in the case were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit bribery; one count of bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds; one count of conspiracy to commit honest services mail and wire fraud; one count of honest services mail fraud; and two counts of honest services wire fraud.

Prosecutors also charged Andy Duong with one count of making false statements to government agents.

If convicted, the defendants could each face more than 60 years in prison.

Former UK Secretary of State admits Pfizer-BioNTech expected payouts of up to £300 billion for vaccine injuries in the UK before its injections were approved for use

Alok Sharma, a Secretary of State in the previous UK government, has admitted that the Government knew, before they received regulatory approval, that people would be injured by the covid vaccines.

It was a lie to say that the vaccines were “safe” and it was unethical to coerce and mandate people into taking them. Worse still, it was pure evil to expose our nation’s children to this unnecessary and entirely avoidable risk of serious injury and death.

The Government anticipated a £1.7 billion bill for injuries caused by the coronavirus vaccine, the Covid Inquiry has heard …

Documents show that after initial conversations with Pfizer-BioNTech – which developed one of the mRNA jabs – the Government had estimated indemnity costs of between £75 billion and £300 billion.

The documents state: … “While the vaccines will be subject to regulatory approval, given the timeframe, the vaccines will not be able to benefit from the longer and more extensive clinical trials that would usually be the norm in any vaccine development.”

Covid vaccine harms were expected to cost Government £1.7bn, inquiry hears, The Telegraph, 17 January 2025

The above is a tweet (with some edits) posted by Mike Fairclough, “Britian’s most outspoken headmaster.” You can follow Fairclough on Twitter HERE or Substack HERE. You can read an archived copy of The Telegraph article HERE.

Interestingly, The Telegraph also notes that the UK government did not offer pharmaceuticals full indemnity as was the case in the USA:

Pharmaceutical companies developing the jabs initially asked for “statutory immunity”, which would have shielded them from any civil claims and which had been agreed by the US.

However, Lord Sharma said the Government had “pushed back” on offering full immunity to pharmaceutical companies, and eventually negotiated a lesser indemnity agreement, which they expected to cost £1.7 billion in a worst-case scenario.

Without considering the fraud committed by Pharmaceutical companies when they marketed their covid injections as “safe and effective,” it seems in the UK, the pharmaceutical companies are liable for civil claims.

In the case of fraudulent activities related to their products, pharmaceutical companies can be held criminally responsible. Fraudulent activities can include various forms of misconduct such as illegal promotion of drugs, failure to report safety data and manufacturing violations.

In the UK, the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (“ECCTA”) introduced a new offence where companies may be held criminally liable if they did not have “reasonable prevention procedures” in place when a fraudulent act was committed by persons associated with them.

Huge Fire at Cokato Egg Production Facility

Multiple fire departments were called beginning early this morning to a large building fire at an egg-laying facility near Cokato.

The fire was reported at Forsman Farms just east of Cokato off Highway 12.

Reports indicate that the initial call may have gone out to the Cokato Fire Department sometime before 6 AM, with multiple departments called shortly thereafter.

Firefighters battled not only the large fire at the structure, but also bitterly cold temperatures in the teens below zero. Conditions on the scene were an interesting contrast of giant flames, as well as huge areas of ice that formed almost instantly when water was applied to the fire.

Tanker trucks from many departments called had to make multiple trips to and from the scene to re-fill their tanks.

You may remember that Forsman Foods suffered a fire over the Memorial Day weekend in 2022 that claimed as many as 200 thousand chickens. There has been no report of the extent of the damage from the current blaze, and no word on whether or not there have been any injuries to workers or firefighters.

While billionaire wealth surges by $2 trillion in 2024, millions are left to starve.

While billionaire wealth surged by an astonishing $2 trillion in 2024, millions continue to starve. This stark reality highlights the grotesque disparity in wealth distribution. In a world where 204 new billionaires were created this year alone, nearly four every week, we still struggle to solve poverty. This system is undeniably broken.

The combined wealth of billionaires rose from $13 trillion in 2023 to a staggering $15 trillion in just 12 months. This surge is not just a statistic; it is a blatant demonstration of greed. While billionaires hoard their wealth, the world suffers.

Oxfam’s latest report reveals that 60% of billionaire wealth now comes from inheritance, monopoly power, or crony connections. This means a significant portion of this wealth is unearned, making it clear that we need to stop glorifying these leeches.

Amitabh Behar, Oxfam International Executive Director, remarked, “Extreme billionaire wealth is largely unmerited.” This statement underscores the growing concern about the fairness and sustainability of such wealth accumulation.

Meanwhile, the number of people living in poverty has barely changed since 1990, according to World Bank data. This stark contrast between the rich and the poor has raised significant concerns about global inequality. In 2024 alone, 204 new billionaires were created, averaging nearly four new billionaires every week.

18,000 Unionized Costco Workers Prepare To Strike After Vote Passes

In the past, the name Costco has been synonymous with high employee morale and quality of life. The company has been revered as a place to work due to its good pay, stock options and high focus on employee retention.

But leave it to unions to take that and flip it on its head.

Now, "eighteen thousand Costco Teamsters are preparing to strike if a 'fair contract offer' is not presented by the end of the month," according to a new report from Fox Business News.

Eighty-five percent of Costco Teamsters nationwide voted to authorize a strike, according to a Sunday press release. As final negotiations began on January 20, tensions rose with practice pickets held in California, Washington, and Long Island. Hundreds in San Diego are set to join a large practice picket by Thursday, the union said.

Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien commented: "From day one, we’ve told Costco that our members won’t work a day past January 31 without a historic, industry-leading agreement."

"Costco’s greedy executives have less than two weeks to do the right thing. If they refuse, they’ll have no one to blame but themselves when our members go on strike," he continued.

Bryan Fields, a Costco worker in Baltimore, added: "We are the backbone of Costco. We drive its success and generate its profits. We hope the company will step up and do right by us, but if they don’t, that’s on them. The company will be striking itself."

Costco's website says it "is often noted for being much more employee-focused than other Fortune 500 companies. By offering fair wages and top-notch benefits, the company has created a workplace culture that attracts positive, high-energy, talented employees."
