Trump Halts Court Dates for 'Aliens'

Tuesday, 21 January 2025 12:15 PM EST

The Trump administration handed down new guidance to the Border Patrol which puts an end to the use of court dates for illegal border crossers, reverting to the president's previous policy of pursuit and force, NewsNation reported Tuesday.

Further, the guidance also included new language that is to be used moving forward, calling them "aliens" instead of migrants or noncitizens, according to the report.

The guidance is part and parcel to the bevy of new immigration policies that President Donald Trump enacted through executive order on Monday, Day 1 of his presidency.

The new direction was sent Monday night, according to NewsNation, halting the use of "notices to appear" (NTAs) for illegal border crossers.

"No alien will be released from custody on an NTA/OR or otherwise without approval from Deputy Chief," read the policy, NewsNation reported.

And "alien" is how border police must refer to illegal migrants moving forward.

"We will no longer refer to aliens as migrants, noncitizens, etc. The legal term is alien and as law enforcement we will use the legal term," read the guidance, according to the report.

"In the coming days, the use of force and pursuit policies will revert back to versions in place during President Trump's previous administrations," it went on, according to the report.

"Discussions are already occurring on training requirements for agents hired and trained after the previous administration's changes."

Trump ended the "catch and release" policy of the Biden administration, which instructed Border Patrol to release illegals into the country while they waited years for a court date.

Trump on Monday also disabled the CBP One app, ending the scheduling of appointments for asylum seekers at the border.

Trump declared a national emergency at the border, allowing for the mobilization of the military and other resources to bolster security.

He reinstated “Remain in Mexico,” action that forces asylum seekers to wait for their hearings in Mexico.

"We will take a border security first approach. Threats should be prioritized based on risk and addressed in order of priority," read the directive, according to NewsNation.

Mystery of ancient 1,400-year-old ‘alien rings’ rising out of hills finally SOLVED after sparking flurry of conspiracies

Updated: 15:14, 21 Jan 2025

Locals had been puzzled by the series of bizarre rings scattered around Melbourne, Australia, and thought they were the work of aliens or a natural phenomenon.

But now, scientists have revealed they are actually ancient monuments crafted by Aboriginal people called the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung - the traditional owners of the land.

Their findings were described in a new study published in Australian Archaeology.

Researchers estimate there were once over 400 of these structures across New South Wales and Queensland in eastern Australia, but only around 100 remain today.

Far fewer have ever been discovered in the southern-most state of Victoria, but the five around the town of Sunbury are amongst them.

Many other rings of this kind are thought to have been destroyed by European settlers when they colonised the land.

It is believed the ancient people would dig out earth and build it into mounds that formed the large circles, hundreds of metres across, that are still visible today.

It is also now understood the circles continue to be very important historically and culturally to Aboriginal people today.

Elders of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung culture explained that the rings are used to reflect on themes including the European occupation, colonisation, self-determination, adaptation and resilience of the people.

Previous studies had indicated that the sites were associated with sacred locations, but had not unearthed any of the cultural value now understood.

The Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people led a new archaeological excavation of one of the rings, known as Sudbury Ring G, in 2022, which has allowed these new revelations.

Ring G is thought to be a ceremonial meeting spot for Aboriginal ancestors and was first excavated in 1979 by archaeologist David Frankel.

Some 166 artefacts were unearthed in this initial dig, and Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people also led the re-analysis of these.

This involved dating the ring deposits to estimate when it was created, and studying wear patterns to understand how the ancient people used stone tools.

The study revealed that the ring was constructed somewhere between 590 and 1,400 years ago.

It showed that the people spent time in the area clearing the land and plants, scraping back soil and layering rocks.

They also lit campfires, made stone tools and moved items around in the ring's interior.

Wear patterns and residues on some of the tools suggest Woi-wurring people people may have used them to to create feather adornments and scar human skin for ceremony and decoration.

The scientists behind the study said in Live Science: "[the research] expands our understanding of the richness and diversity of Australia's archaeological record, created over more than 65,000 years of continuous occupation by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples".

They added: "[The study] demonstrates the importance of further investigating and preserving these earth rings, as well as others known to occur across eastern Australia.

"This is especially important in the face of continued threats by land development and climate change which threaten the survival of earth rings."

Alien panic in paradise: ET find turns out to be deep-sea giant

Updated: Monday, January 20, 2025

In a scene reminiscent of a sci-fi thriller, a group of Thai villagers were sent running for the hills after stumbling upon what they believed to be the lifeless remains of a dead alien.

But once nerves had settled, they returned to the site, only to discover the so-called alien was actually a rare marine creature washed ashore from the depths of the Gulf of Thailand.

The Rare and Endangered Marine Animal Rescue Network today, January 20, sprang into action.

Experts from the Department of Marine and Coastal Natural Resources, along with researchers and veterinarians from the Lower Gulf of Thailand Marine and Coastal Resources Research Centre, descended upon the mangrove forest in the Ao Pak Phaya conservation area, located in Village 6, Tha Sak Subdistrict, Nakhon Si Thammarat province.

The drama unfolded when local fishermen first caught sight of what they thought was a decaying crab, only to realise it was a much larger creature with fearsome fangs.

The rumour mill went into overdrive, fueled by photos of its teeth that measured over a foot long, leaving everyone to speculate wildly about an alien invasion or an undiscovered species.

Local Thai officials, navigating the muddy terrain, used boats to access the site, then trekked 50 metres into the mangrove forest.

Upon laying eyes on the remains, officials quickly identified the creature as a black killer whale, a marine mammal more comfortable in the ocean’s darker depths.

In their endeavour to piece together the puzzle, officials collected vital samples, including stomach contents, crucial tissues, and the whale’s head, for analysis in a lab.

Given the challenging muddy conditions and the site’s distance from human habitation, the leftover remains were left to decompose naturally, providing sustenance for local wildlife.

Pinij Bansuwan, the eagle-eyed local crab hunter who first discovered the whale’s remains, recounted his astonishment.

“I was setting a crab trap when I saw this huge, decaying creature with long sharp teeth. I panicked and ran! I’ve never seen anything like it!”

He confessed to KhaoSod reporters that he can now laugh at the memory.

Once he’d regained his composure, he captured the scene and shared it, sparking a frenzy of speculation. The village was abuzz with theories ranging from mythical beasts to alien visitors.

Dr Rattanaporn Phakphian, a researcher with the Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center, explained that the black killer whale is a rare sight, normally dwelling in the depths of the sea.

“It’s unusual to spot them near the shore, and reports are scarce. This particular specimen is a juvenile, around 3.5 metres long, but fully grown, they can reach about 6 metres. Sadly, due to decomposition, we can’t determine its gender.”

Dr Rattanaporn speculated that the poor creature likely fell prey to recent fierce winds and high tides, driven into the canal and ultimately trapped in the mangrove forest.

“Although its condition makes it difficult to diagnose the precise cause of death, further tests on collected samples will hopefully shed light on this marine mystery.”

In the meantime, the villagers will undoubtedly have a captivating tale to share, blending cosmic intrigue with earthly reality: a story of mistaken identity that almost ended in an alien invasion… if only for a day.
