U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) praised U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Tuesday for swiftly getting to work rounding up violent illegal aliens just 24 hours after President Donald Trump was sworn into office.
Trump wasted no time in his first hours as president, signing a slew of executive orders related to the Southern border. In addition to declaring a state of emergency at the border, Trump also ended the use of a border app called "CBP One," which previously allowed migrants to enter the U.S. legally. He also removed several DOJ judges responsible for adjudicating the nation's immigration court, and he declared Mexican drug cartels terrorist organizations.
While the corporate media used images at the border and stories of turned-away migrants at the border, others were quick to applaud the border actions as promises kept by the president made during his campaign.
Another Trump immigration move came after acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary (DHS) Benjamine Huffmanre removed a rule that barred ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents from arresting suspects in so-called sensitive areas, which include schools, places of worship, hospitals, funerals, weddings and public demonstrations.
"This action empowers the brave men and women in CBP and ICE to enforce our immigration laws and catch criminal aliens—including murders and rapists—who have illegally come into our country," a DHS statement read. "Criminals will no longer be able to hide in America's schools and churches to avoid arrest. The Trump Administration will not tie the hands of our brave law enforcement, and instead trusts them to use common sense."

This was all stopped on day one of the Trump Administration. This action will return the humanitarian parole program to its original purpose of looking at migrants on a case-by-case basis."
In an X post, Britt congratulated ICE for making 308 arrests on Tuesday alone, which allegedly included "several murderers, rapists, sex offenders, and kidnappers." She also claimed ICE had ordered nearly 300 illegal aliens to be remanded into their custody from multiple jails.

Huntington Beach has declared itself a "non-sanctuary city" as Republicans gear up to enact President Donald Trump's mass deportation plans.
Newsweek has contacted the office of California Governor Gavin Newsom via email outside of normal office hours.
Why It Matters
Trump has already begun implementing his sweeping immigration reforms, including limiting asylum and lifting restrictions on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) making arrests at sensitive locations such as schools, churches and hospitals.
In response, many Democrat-led cities and states have reinforced their sanctuary policies, which restrict local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities.
What To Know
On Tuesday, January 21, the city council unanimously voted for Huntington Beach Mayor Pat Burns' proposal to designate the city a "non-sanctuary" jurisdiction, aligning with Trump's mass deportation policies.
Burns proposed designating Huntington Beach as a "non-sanctuary city" and cited an increase in violent crime across the state as a key justification for the move.
The designated status seeks to counter some of Governor Newsom's policies while aligning with the Trump administration's hard-line immigration agenda.
Huntington Beach City Council wrote in a press release on Tuesday: "This new city policy and declaration are common sense, supports our law enforcement, and advances public safety throughout the city. What the governor is doing does not. Neither the governor nor the state legislature with the passage of laws may interfere with the city's voluntary cooperation with federal authorities, nor cause or compel the city to violate federal laws such as Title 8 Section 1324 for the harboring of illegal immigrants
