Not sure there's anything here, but since POTUS tweeted it yesterday.

Suspect identified in wild shooting at Silver Lake Trader Joe's that left store manager dead

A 28-year-old Los Angeles man has been identified as the man who set off a wild car chase and gun battle that left one woman dead and sparked panic inside a Trader Joe’s store in Silver Lake on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Gene Atkins is being held in lieu of $2 million bail on suspicion of murder, according to Officer Drake Madison, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.

The car chase that ended in the parking lot of the popular grocery store started as a family dispute in South L.A. when Atkins shot his grandmother at least seven times and injured an unidentified second woman, according to police. He then dragged the second woman into his grandmother’s Toyota Camry and drove off, police said.

Police found the car in Hollywood using transmissions from its anti-theft device, and a chase ensued. The gunman blew out his own rear window while firing at police, officials said. The pursuit ended with the Camry crashing into a light post outside the Trader Joe’s.

The gunman exchanged fire with police and was struck in his left arm before running inside the store, police said.

Dozens of shoppers and employees were trapped inside, and a three-hour hostage negotiation began. During that time, Atkins allowed some to leave while others sneaked out. Some crawled out windows.

Atkins’ grandmother was in critical condition after undergoing surgery, according to Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore. The second woman injured by the gunman suffered a relatively minor head wound and was in good condition, he said.

One woman at the store was struck by gunfire and killed. She was identified by relatives as Melyda Corado, though officials have not confirmed her name.

“I’m sad to say she didn’t make it. My baby sister. My world. I appreciate the retweets and the love,” her brother, Alpert Corado, tweeted Saturday. “Please respect my family’s privacy as we are still coming to terms with this.”

Corado was the store manager, according to a law enforcement source. She was shot inside the store and died at the scene, authorities said.

BARTIROMO: And many of the people that you mentioned, they have signed – on the signage page of this FISA warrant, they all signed it, OKing it, and that includes John Brennan – Sally Yates, John Brennan, Jim Comey, Peter Strzok.

So, John Brennan, he's the man who deserves a belated bit of scrutiny, according to The Wall Street Journal, Kim Strassel's op-ed just this past week. We know that John Brennan has been all over town trashing President Trump and trashing the hearing that your committee actually did with Peter Strzok.

What are your thoughts on John Brennan's involvement?

GOODLATTE: Well, we have lots of questions for John Brennan, and he will definitely be sought by the committees for an interview. This is an extremely disturbing thing to see both he and James Comey, supposedly impartial government officials carrying out their jobs in very important areas in intelligence-gathering and law enforcement, express the kind of extreme bias that they have shown now, which I think reflects quite accurately on what they were doing back in 2016.

BARTIROMO: So, he's on your list of witnesses to have in to interview them?

GOODLATTE: Absolutely. Definitely.

BARTIROMO: Who else is on that list?

GOODLATTE: Well, we're going to go through – we have received a list from the Intelligence Committee of literally dozens of people.

We're going through that list now and determining which ones are our priority. I think I would rather leave it at that, but certainly we will also be talking to Director Comey and former Attorney General Lynch.

McCabe memos forthcoming

BARTIROMO: Let me ask you about Lisa Page.

I know that you had behind-closed-door meetings with her, but, apparently, during that hearing, you have discovered more information that you want. Can you tell us anything about the Lisa Page testimony and what you learned?

GOODLATTE: Well, it was a private confidential interview.

But I will say this, that Ms. Page, in contrast to Mr. Strzok, was far more forthcoming and gave us far more information regarding what was going on in 2016 and into 2017, to help our investigation.

But I will also say that she reminded us of some documents that hadn't been talked about for a while, including the fact that there are not only memos by James Comey that we're all aware of, but also memos by Andrew McCabe, the deputy director of the FBI, that are of interest to us as well, and we're seeking those now.

Calling my fellow Republicans: Trump is clearly unfit to remain in office

By Christine Todd Whitman

Jul 22, 2018 | 4:10 AM

President Trump’s disgraceful performance in Helsinki, Finland, and in the days since is an indication that he is not fit to remain in office. Trump’s 2016 “America First” platform might be more aptly named “Russia First” after the disaster that occurred last week.

Trump’s turn toward Russia is indefensible. I am a lifelong Republican. I have campaigned and won as a member of the party, and I have served more than one Republican president. My Republican colleagues — once rightfully critical of President Obama’s engagement strategy with Russian leader Vladimir Putin — have to end their willful ignorance of the damage Trump is doing both domestically and internationally. We must put aside the GOP label, as hard as that may be, and demonstrate the leadership our country needs by calling on the president to step down.

Trump’s sycophantic relationship with Putin is unsurprising given his previous comments about Russia and its dictator. What is shocking is how long he has possessed — and disregarded — hard evidence of Putin’s direct role in undermining our elections. According to New York Times reporting, he saw dispositive emails and texts early in January 2017.

Trumps’ repeated public dismissals of the intelligence coming from his own deputies is deeply disturbing. Along with his walk back of statements last week, and then walking back the walk backs, it’s impossible to keep up, and his behavior warrants a fresh evaluation of whether the president can be trusted with the future of the United States. His apologists will argue that the current outcry is just another attempt by moderates and “establishment” Republicans to discredit the president. But what does this man have to say or do for his supporters to finally see that his actions are detrimental to the country?
