What is the latest news regarding this program? Have there been any negative remarks in audits regarding this program? What if any political noise is there regarding this program?

You get my drift. We can go down this rabbit hole with anything. Like Planned Parenthood is another fine example. What Federal Program CFDA funded Planned Parenthood?

After your dig is done. You can start following up with HARD FACTS about the program from actual audit data in the Federal Audit Clearinghouse Database.

Let's say your county is recipient of Snap Funds. A good query for the Single Audit Database would be search your state for the word county. So let's go with Indiana.

My search on Indiana 'county' for year 2016 on SNAP 10.551 came up with nothing.

So I modify the search to all States and come up with 39 for 2016. SEE PIC2

After you dowload you can pivot out from there and see what you have. What States are giving Snap Funds to counties? How much? Why such few counties?

This might call for another query and delete the word 'county' from your query. See what states are the recipients of SNAP funds. Are there non-profit organizations listed as recipients?

Look at all the persons served at the county-level by the SNAP program in 2016 and yet the counties aren't listing these federal funds on their AUDITS!
