MCI = Mid-Continent International. FCC won't let em change it to KCI because there's a radio station KKCI.
My dad (and all of his family) was from KCKS area and he always referred to it as KCI just because MCI sounded idiotic. Well after the downtown airport was "shuttered" to airline service at least.
