They have unchecked power. They are still contracted for train protection. They can investigate without a warrant ( break into your home) if you received mail on the train car a crime was committed that they are investigating. They have kept a low profile but never lost that power

>>22417111 The Laken Riley Act that passed last night will be signed and is a companion to this. It amends the Immigration and Nationalization Act. It requires DHS remove Illegals who have committed crimes of all kinds including financial of $100 or more . This means the illegals in State jails must be removed or else State's can sue DHS. It is a backdoor fix for the State's who won't respect ICE detainers or inform ICE if an illegal is incarcerated

For anons interested in laws regarding detention of US Citizens in time of invasion, these are the current laws. The Non Detention Act repeals Title II of McCarran Internal Security Act but leaves most of the rest in tact. The short version is , in order to detain a US Citizen during invasion the Government has to provide due process and give a prima facia case they plan to subvert or interfere with operations to repel the invasion. It requires Congress to approve the detention.

These are the current laws that are the framework of what we are dealing with now. Once DJT signs the Alien Enemies Act, military detentions will be hard to fight in Court for Lawfare dems
