John McAfee's wife launches AI memecoin project called AIntivirus
The wife of deceased entrepreneur and crypto lover John McAfee is using his name to promote a newly created AI token called AIntivirus.
"I am super excited to announce that I have taken creative control of a product that will expand John's legacy. It encompasses his core beliefs of freedom, privacy, and technology, while expanding on his passion for crypto and AI," posted his wife Janice McAfee on X.
"I'm back with AIntivirus. An AI version of myself. You didn't think I would miss this cycle did you?" posted John McAfee's X account with its 1.1 million followers, which Janice McAfee maintains.
There are some concerns over the token supply of the project. The token was minted on Jan. 6, according to blockchain records, with a 100 million token supply. Over the following weeks and prior to the announcement, all of these tokens were moved to 277 other wallets.
However, very few tokens were used to provide liquidity on decentralized exchanges. Just 2.6 million tokens ($1 million) are in the main two trading pools on Raydium and Meteora, according to DEX Screener. It's unclear whether any of the remaining tokens are subject to lockup periods or could be sold at will, as no tokenomics information has been provided.
"Minted 16 days ago, then transferred to insiders. Only 1.6% in liquidity, the rest held by insider walletsโฆ Good luck," noted TechLead on X.
The website for the project claims it has created "John McAfee AI incarnate" with a link to a newly created X account. The project appears to be in the same vein as other accounts that use AI to automatically respond to posts on X in the style of a specific person (such as one for crypto trader Degen Spartan).
"From the digital grave, I riseโnow an AI with the same old spark," wrote the AI version of McAfee, which doesn't really sound much like him. That said, he certainly was fond of shilling tokens.
