Justice Elena Kagan, who handles urgent appeals from California, rejected the emergency application in Kory v. Bonta late on Jan. 21. She did not explain why.

The decision came 13 days after the case was docketed by the court on Jan. 8. Kagan did not ask California to respond to the application.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was listed as one of two attorneys representing the physicians in the case.

President Donald Trump has nominated Kennedy, an activist on environment and health-related issues, to be secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The other co-counsel on the application is Richard Jaffe of Sacramento, California.

The Medical Board of California considers the expression of the doctors’ dissenting views on the disease as potentially dangerous misinformation that needs to be suppressed.

The board argues that it has legal authority to discipline the doctors for speech it deems to be medical misconduct. The physicians counter that they didn’t surrender their free speech rights when they obtained medical licenses.

The application was initiated by Dr. Pierre Kory and Dr. Brian Tyson, both medical doctors; Dr. Le Trinh Hoag, an osteopathic physician; Physicians for Informed Consent; and Children’s Health Defense, a nonprofit organization founded by Kennedy.

Google sold AI tools to IDF after Hamas attack – WaPo

The US tech giant has reportedly been rushing to provide the tech to beat out its competitor Amazon

The report, published on Tuesday, said Google employees became directly involved in providing the Israel Defense Forces with access to AI tools soon after the October 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, which led to Israel’s bombing and ground invasion of Gaza.

A few weeks into the war, a Google cloud division employee escalated the IDF’s requests for access to AI technology, despite the US company’s public efforts to distance itself from Israel’s military operations, WaPo said, citing internal documents.

Another document revealed that an employee warned that if Google failed to provide access, the IDF might turn to Amazon for cloud computing services.

In a document dated November 2023, an employee reportedly thanked a colleague for handling the IDF’s request. Months later, additional requests for access to AI tools for the IDF were made by Google employees, documents show.

Trump Revokes Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s Security Detail Despite Alleged Threat From Iran

President Trump revoked security protection for his former secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, and a former top aide, Brian Hook, despite warnings from the Biden administration that both men faced ongoing threats from Iran because of actions they took on Mr. Trump’s behalf, four people with knowledge of the matter said on Thursday.

Mr. Pompeo and Mr. Hook had been part of an aggressive posture against Iran during the first Trump presidency, most notably the drone strike that killed the powerful Iranian general Qassim Suleimani in early 2020.

Mr. Trump also remains under threat because of that action, and his advisers have regularly stressed the seriousness of the situation in the years between his two terms in office.

Mr. Pompeo and Mr. Hook had their security details, which were believed to be provided by the State Department, pulled on Tuesday, one of the people briefed on the matter said. A day before, Mr. Trump pulled the U.S. Secret Service detail of John R. Bolton, who was Mr. Trump’s third national security adviser and also faces threats.

Other than former presidents and their spouses, senior U.S. officials are not automatically granted ongoing protection. But the threat assessments from the intelligence community that the risk level remained for Mr. Pompeo, Mr. Hook and Mr. Bolton had been the basis for the Biden administration granting it to them. President Joseph R. Biden Jr. had his aides warn the Iranians that assassinating a former U.S. government official would be considered an act of war, a former senior administration official said.

Mr. Biden’s administration had privately briefed the new Trump administration about continued threats from Iran to former Trump officials, including Mr. Pompeo, Mr. Hook and Mr. Bolton, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.

Mr. Bolton said he was also personally notified about the threats by the Biden administration.

“As recently as the end of last week, two separate government representatives, two separate government agencies called,” he said in an interview on Wednesday. “They said our current assessment is that the threat level remains the same” as in 2022, when a member of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was charged with a murder plot against Mr. Bolton, he said.

A Trump spokesman and a State Department official did not immediately respond to requests for comment. A spokesman for Mr. Pompeo declined to comment. Mr. Hook declined to comment.

The ARPANET

Specifically, the internet began as ARPANET, a project of the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA), which in 1972 became known as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), currently housed within the Department of Defense. ARPA was created by President Eisenhower in 1958 within the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) in direct response to the U.S.’ greatest military rival, the USSR, successfully launching Sputnik, the first artificial satellite in Earth’s orbit with data broadcasting technology. While historically considered the birth of the Space Race, in reality, the formation of ARPA began the now-decades-long militarization of data brokers, quickly leading to world-changing developments in global positioning systems (GPS), the personal computer, networks of computational information processing (“time-sharing”), primordial artificial intelligence, and weaponized autonomous drone technology.

In October 1962, the recently-formed ARPA appointed J.C.R. Licklider, a former MIT professor and vice president of Bolt Beranek and Newman (known as BBN, currently owned by defense contractor Raytheon), to head their Information Processing Techniques Office (IPTO). At BBN, Licklider developed the earliest known ideas for a global computer network, publishing a series of memos in August 1962 that birthed his “Intergalactic Computer Network” concept. Six months after his appointment to ARPA, Licklider would distribute a memo to his IPTO colleagues – addressed to “Members and Affiliates of the Intergalactic Computer Network”– describing a “time-sharing network of computers” – building off a similar exploration of communal, distributed computation by John Forbes Nash, Jr. in his 1954 paper “Parallel Control” commissioned by defense contractor RAND – which would build the foundational concepts for ARPANET, the first implementation of today’s Internet.

Mariano Rivera, Wife Allegedly Covered Up Sexual Abuse Of Minor At Home, Church

Mariano Rivera, along with his wife Ciara, are being accused of covering up child sex abuse that allegedly took place at their house and also at a church, according to a lawsuit that was filed in New York.

The former New York Yankees player is the pastor for the New Rochelle-based Refuge of Hope Church, which is around 15 miles from Yankee Stadium.

In the lawsuit, “Jane Doe” claims that an older girl identified as “MG” sexually abused her amid a 2018 summer internship. At the time of the alleged abuse, MG was a minor, per the lawsuit.

Located in Gainesville, Florida, the internship happened at the Ignite Life Center, which had an affiliation with Rivera’s Refuge of Hope Church.

According to the lawsuit, the victim’s mother told Rivera’s wife of the allegations, which led to Ciara promising that an investigation would be launched into the matter. However, they allegedly covered the situation up.

“Rather than take sufficient action to end the sexual abuse of Jane Doe, the Riveras each separately isolated and intimidated Jane Doe to remain silent about her abuse by MG to avoid causing trouble for Refuge of Hope and the Ignite Life Summer Internship,” reads the lawsuit.

It also alleges that the victim was sexually abused by MG at the home of the Riveras while a barbecue was going on that same summer.

Israeli forces ravage infrastructure in Jenin as deadly operation enters second day

Israeli troops invading Jenin and its refugee camp killed 10 Palestinians, injured over 40, and displaced hundreds

Israel’s deadly operation in the occupied West Bank’s Jenin has entered its second day, as troops continue to tear up infrastructure and reinforce their presence across the city and its battered refugee camp.

Videos shared on social media on 22 January showed roads destroyed by the Israeli army’s bulldozers.

Israeli forces destroyed the road around Jenin Government Hospital and bulldozed the entrance to the medical facility, blocking it with mounds of dirt. Destruction was also carried out in the vicinity of Ibn Sina Hospital.

Director of Jenin Government Hospital Wissam Bakr told WAFA news agency that the ability to transport wounded Palestinians to hospitals has been affected.

The army has closed off the entrances to the Jenin refugee camp.

“The occupation forces are sending more military reinforcements to the city of Jenin and the entrances to its camp,” WAFA reported.

The Jenin Brigade of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) movement’s Quds Brigades said on Wednesday that its fighters were confronting Israeli forces with machine guns and explosive devices.

Israel launched a large-scale military operation in Jenin on 21 January, coinciding with airstrikes on the city.

The Israeli army announced on Wednesday that it hit several “terrorist” targets in Jenin over the past 24 hours and destroyed explosives planted on roads. The operation is expected to last several days.

Ten Palestinians have been killed and at least 40 others injured since the operation – dubbed “Iron Wall” – began. The Israeli army killed a man in front of his wife and three kids on Tuesday night.

Ahmad Shayeb was driving home with his family with him when Israeli snipers opened fire at the car. Video footage showed the final moments before he was killed.

Bashir Matahen, the director of Public Relations and Media at the Jenin Municipality, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that over 600 Palestinians have been displaced from the camp as a result of the Israeli invasion.

Israel signaled this week that it is preparing for “major” operations across the occupied West Bank.

Before “Iron Wall” was launched, the Palestinian Authority (PA) had been besieging the Jenin camp for six weeks in an Israeli-backed operation that Ramallah said was aimed at rooting out the Jenin Brigade and establishing control over the camp.

Haaretz newspaper reported on Monday, citing a Palestinian source, that Israel asked the PA security services to withdraw from Jenin before the Israeli army entered. However, PA forces took part in Israel's siege on Jenin's hospital on 22 January.

At least 868 Palestinians have been killed by Israel in the West Bank since 7 October 2023.

Yet these parasites, who need to siphon from us just to exist, wield so much power politically, that legislatures around the planet "step-and-fetch" for their (money) masters just like a good negro from the Plantation days!
