You might find the lessons in morality contained in the allegory and history in that book still apply to this very day. You're missing the entire point of that book if you walk in pre-judging it as solely fiction. That book may not paint the perfect picture, the same way as other books from other branches don't paint a perfect picture, but it paints enough of a picture that others can follow to get them to Him.
