President Trump just issued a deployment of troops to the Southern border. If it is executed like it was during the first administration, nothing will change. How do I know? Our youngest son.
Our youngest son was a member of an advanced infantry unit in the Army from 2018 - 2022. He joined (against my advice) because every male in our family has served in the US armed services going back to local militia service in the 17th Century. He wanted to kill bad guys. Instead, he was sent to the Southern border during Trump's first term.
While he was deployed, he was only allowed to monitor the border, observe, and report AFTER shift. When he saw illegals cross the border, they had to sit in their vehicle - not engage - and write down how many border crossers his team saw. They could not call it in. They gave the report at the time of a shift change. This is what the first Trump DOD had the 101st do at the border. Literally, nothing.
Our son left the Army dejected, after he returned from the border and Biden won. For the first six months, the 101st sat around watching videos on LGBTQ rights, White privilege, counter-MAGA extremism, etc, etc. Weapons exercises were fully suspended. The remainder of his enlistment was filled with White male soldiers watching underperforming minority and female soldiers get promotions. When he was offered bonuses and a promotion to re-enlist, he turned it down. In fact, every White male in his unit turned down reenlistment until it was his time to depart.
For four years, the majority of his time in service was doing nothing at the border or learning why White men are evil. That was his Army experience. If Trump really wants to do something at the border with the recent deployment of troops, he needs to order them to act. Otherwise, their leftist military leadership will do the exact same thing as the first administration.

160 national security staffers are sent home as Mike Waltz aligns White house team to Donald Trump’s agenda
President Donald Trump’s national security adviser has sidelined about 160 National Security Council staffers, telling them to work from home while the administration reviews staffing and tries to align it with Trump’s agenda, administration officials told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
The career government employees, commonly referred to as detailees, were summoned for an all-staff call and told they will be expected to be available to the council’s senior directors but would not need to report to the White House. The council provides national security and foreign policy advice to the president.
Brian McCormack, chief of staff to national security adviser Mike Waltz, delivered the news in a two-minute phone call, telling the detailees they “are directed to be on call and report to the office only if contacted by the NSC leadership.” Waltz is a former U.S. Congressman from St. Augustine Beach.

Some directors have made decisions to inform detailees they will be sent back to their home agencies. For example, multiple holdover detailees assigned to the counterterrorism directorate were told on Tuesday that their assignments were being cut short, according to two people familiar with the move who were not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
At least some holdover detailees sent home Wednesday had their White House emails turned off soon after the call ended, but were told to remain reachable on their personal cellphones. It is unlikely they will be assigned any substantive work during the review.
