perhaps. but on balance, did Snowden's leaks do more harm or good for the American citizen? I would argue that leaking the dragnet surveillance of American citizens by the NSA was a good thing, and gave concrete evidence to the public of the IC overstepping their bounds. It also sparked a global conversation on anonymity/privacy.

Up until his leaks, NSA officials insisted this wasn't happening.

Snowden wasn't the first person to try to sound the alarm, either. Ever head of what happened to Bill Binney?

See >>22425922

but, to your point, I agree the CIA also does this.

>right, but was Snowden trying to end that or transfer it to the CIA to do on their own

I'll readily admit that Snowden had ulterior motives. I'm just making the point that NSA shouldn't have abused their powers/capabilities like they did. There were alternatives to do things "the right way"โ€ฆ See Bill Binney's THINTHREAD program.

Who was director of the NSA at that time? Michael Hayden, who just had his security clearance revoked kek (but not for this issue).

indeed, anon. NSA->CIA.

Fun fact: CIA did get a lot of their shit leaked with the Vault 7 disclosures. +1 for Wikileaks. Have to wonder if that was "payback" from No Such Agency. kek.

I know a lot of this is old news, but this anon is fascinated with the shadow wars, CI, etc.

>It becomes treason when it's weaponized against a duly elected POTUS. It was, and those ops were not NSA but in fact the clowns. Their ops were heroically exposed by Adm R - who was NSA director at the time.

Agree with this. Though I think CIA hid behind FBI to do some of the dirty work.

it's pretty bad. The algo is for sure worse.

less outright "censorship", but stronger silos I think.

also you're shouting into the void unless you pay Elon his $12 a month or whatever.
