Russian president Vladimir Putin has said the 2020 US presidential election was “stolen” from Donald Trump, and that had the outcome been declared fairly, the Ukraine conflict might have been avoided.

“I cannot disagree with him that if he had been president, if his victory hadn’t been stolen in 2020, perhaps the crisis in Ukraine that arose in 2022 wouldn’t have happened,” Putin has said in an interview published by Russia 1 TV journalist Pavel Zarubin on Telegram on Friday.

In 2023 Trump claimed to American radio host Hugh Hewitt that the Ukraine conflict would never have begun if the 2020 US elections hadn’t been “rigged” and Joe Biden hadn’t replaced him in there Oval Office.

“[Putin] would have never done it if the election weren’t rigged, our election. It was rigged and stolen. If that election wasn’t rigged, if I were president, you would right now have millions of people living that are dead,” according to an interview transcript.

Trump has never admitted that he lost the 2020 election, despite courts failing to find evidence of widespread voter fraud. He eventually stepped down as president after a crowd of his supporters stormed the US Capitol building on January 6, 2021, interrupting the certification of Biden’s victory.

The Democrats accused Trump of inciting the riot and impeached him in 2021. Trump has denied any wrongdoing, dismissing the accusations as a “witch hunt.”

He has consistently alleged the 2020 election was blighted by irregularities, and that he lost despite winning 10 million more votes than Biden.

Hours after he was sworn in for his second term Trump pardoned around 1,500 people involved in the storming of the Capitol building. He described the defendants as patriots and hostages, insisting that their prosecution was politically motivated.

In June 2021, Putin criticized the US government’s response to the Capitol riot, accusing it of double standards. He argued that while Washington condemns crackdowns on anti-government protests abroad, it prosecutes its own citizens who express political dissent. “They weren’t just a crowd of robbers and rioters. Mississippi Democrat Proposes ‘Contraception Begins at Erection Act’ — Would Criminalize Masturbating or ‘Discharge of Genetic Material’ Without Intent to Fertilize

A bill put forward by a Mississippi Democrat is essentially seeking to outlaw masturbation.

Democrat State Sen. Bradford Blackmon this week introduced the “Contraception Begins at Erection Act,” which would prevent men from masturbating or engaging in sexual activity when there is no “intent to fertilize an embryo.”

The legislation put forward this week proposes fines of $1,000 for a first offense, $5,000 for a second, and $10,000 for subsequent violations.

Blackmon, a first-term senator representing a district north of Jackson, is apparently seeking to hold men accountable for their role in women having abortions.

“All across the country, especially here in Mississippi, the vast majority of bills relating to contraception and/or abortion focus on the woman’s role when men are fifty percent of the equation,” he told local media affiliate WLBT.

He added that the bill, which stands no chance of passing, is more about bringing men into the “conversation” around abortions.

”This bill highlights that fact and brings the man’s role into the conversation,” he continued.

”People can get up in arms and call it absurd but I can’t say that bothers me.”

In another statement provided to Clarion Ledger, Bradmon expanded on his reasons for coming up with such a bizarre proposal.

“You have male-dominated legislatures in Mississippi and all over the country that pass laws that dictate what a woman can and cannot do with her body,” he said.

“When a bill has been filed that would regulate what a man is able to do with his own body in his own home, it suddenly has people in an uproar.”

”I am trying to figure out when it isn’t okay for the government to dictate what you do in the privacy of your own home, apparently it is when the laws regulate men.”

Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022, Mississippi has enforced some of the most robust pro-life laws in the country.

Abortion is now banned in nearly all cases, with exceptions only for instances of rape or when the mother’s life is in danger.

The state’s trigger law, first passed in 2007, went into effect shortly after the Supreme Court’s decision.

In the first public confirmation of such a delay, following weeks of speculation, Netanyahu’s office declared in a statement that “the IDF’s withdrawal process is conditional,” citing what he said are Lebanon’s and Hezbollah’s obligations under the agreement, though the Iran-backed terrorist organization is not a party to the deal signed between Jerusalem and Beirut.

In total, the costs just for engineering support and consultancy with the Israeli military have amounted to approximately $10 million since the start of the October 2023 Gaza offensive, with additional support projects worth another $30 million under consideration in 2024. The total size of Israeli MoD’s contract with Microsoft, including the usage of the Azure platform, is much larger, but the exact figure could not be ascertained from the documents.

The Israeli military has been leveraging a range of Microsoft cloud services to support their ongoing operations, according to the documents. Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing platform that provides a suite of applications and services to its enterprise customers. Its most important components have historically been compute and storage, which allow Microsoft customers to process and store massive amounts of data in cloud servers hosted globally. More recently, due to Microsoft’s investment of billions of dollars in OpenAI, the same company that runs ChatGPT, Microsoft has added OpenAI’s Large Language Models to its Azure suite of offerings.

Bundled together, these services are what form the core of the services the Israeli military has purchased from Microsoft. Among their most used services are translation and the Azure OpenAl service, an enterprise service based on the same technology as ChatGPT, together accounting for almost 75 percent of the total usage. Speech and voice services make up the rest.

Leaked data show a dramatic spike in Microsoft cloud storage used by the Israeli military, jumping more than 155 percent between June 2023 and April 2024, and peaking just before the Rafah offensive in May 2024. Storage use is an important indicator showing the extent of AI usage, since storage usually grows along with the usage of other cloud products.
