SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: "Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita was in South Bend on Friday to file a lawsuit. In the news conference, Rokita announced that he had filed a lawsuit against St. Joseph County Sheriff William Redman. He accused St. Joseph County Police of refusing to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. Rokita said he blames local law enforcement for immigration issues.
Rokita also placed blame on former president Joe Biden for creating a "crisis that now needs to be fixed."
The lawsuit accuses Sheriff Redman and his department of not complying with Indiana law. Rokita said the law states there can't be policies that restrict communication between local and federal law enforcement.
"We hope that Sheriff Redman and his department will begin to work with us to follow the law. That will be the best outcome and would save the taxpayers the most money and keep us all safer,” said Rokita."
