Nicole Shanahan, the former vice president running mate of Donald Trump’s Health and Human Services appointee Robert F. Kennedy Jr., issued a viral 𝕏 post on Friday explaining how the “chemtrail” phenomenon is dismissed by the scientific establishment despite loads of proof that geoengineering is a real issue.
“‘Chemtrails’ are tagged as a conspiracy theory, but ‘geoengineering, weather modification, atmospheric manipulation, etc’ are the terms used in practice. Using the colloquial word ‘chemtrails’ triggers gaslighting,” she wrote.

The paper examines how “jet-spraying particulates in the atmosphere” potentially contribute to increases in “combustibility, intensity, and the extent of wildfires” across the United States.
Kennedy also commented on the aerial spraying in August of 2024, writing on social media, “We are going to stop this crime.”

All 47 Democrats and independents are expected to vote no, so Pete Hegseth can afford to lose only three Republicans to win the simple majority needed for confirmation (with Vice President JD Vance as the tie-breaking vote).
Two Republican senators, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, have said they will not support him.
If Mr. Hegseth succeeds, the vote could be the smallest margin for any confirmed defense secretary.

From the beginning, I have been clear about my position: if President Trump’s nominees were reported favorably out of the relevant committees, I would support their confirmation on the Senate floor absent new material information about their qualifications. Once Pete Hegseth’s nomination was sent to the floor by my colleagues on the Senate Armed Services Committee, I conducted my own due diligence, including asking tough questions of Pete and I appreciated his candor and openness in answering them.
Pete has a unique perspective as a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and is unquestionably passionate about modernizing our military and supporting the brave patriots like himself who serve our nation.
