>The bill mandates city and county governments to recycle organic waste to reduce methane greenhouse gas emissions in landfills in line with the state’s goal to have 75 percent of all organic waste recycled.

The organic waste produces the same gasses in your yard that it would produce in a landfill.

Placing it in a different location doesn't change anything.

Danes ‘freaked out’ over Trump’s Greenland pressure – FT

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen had a “horrendous” conversation with the US president about acquiring the island, officials have told the paper

US President Donald Trump aggressively pushed the idea of taking over Greenland in a tense phone call with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, the Financial Times reported on Friday, citing sources. The conversation has reportedly triggered panic in Copenhagen.

Trump held a 45-minute conversation with Frederiksen last week prior to his inauguration, unnamed European officials told the paper, acknowledging that it “had gone very badly.”

They described Trump’s tone during the call as confrontational and “very firm” after Frederiksen reportedly reiterated Denmark’s stance that the island is not for sale, but that it is open to discussing expanded military cooperation.

“It was horrendous,” an FT source said, with another calling the conversation “a cold shower,” adding that “before, it was hard to take it seriously. But I do think it is serious, and potentially very dangerous.”

One official told FT that the Danish side was left “utterly freaked out” by the exchange, which reportedly included threats of targeted tariffs against Denmark. According to the report, European officials had previously assumed Trump’s statements about acquiring Greenland were merely a negotiating tactic to assert more influence in the Arctic and check Russia and China, but the call with Frederiksen had dashed those hopes.

Greenland is home to about 60,000 people, mostly indigenous, as well as a significant US military base. It is an autonomous region within Denmark that has been self-governing since 1979. The territory is of high strategic importance to NATO due to its crucial location in the Arctic, which allows for control of nearby shipping lanes.

Trump floated the idea of buying Greenland in 2019 during his first term, but the initiative went nowhere, with both Denmark and the island’s government rejecting it. However, he has since revived the idea, citing Greenland’s importance for US national security.

Greenlandic Prime Minister Mute Egede has said that while the island is open to cooperation with Washington, “we don’t want to be Americans. We don’t want to be a part of the US.”

Stephen A. Smith Stuns Bill Maher Crowd with Brutal Truth Bomb on Why Trump is the People’s President

In a recent explosive appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” sports journalist Stephen Smith delivered a truth bomb on why Donald Trump continues to be seen as the ‘People’s President.’

This follows President Donald Trump’s dynamic entrance into Washington after his inauguration, during which he took the capital by storm, signed a series of executive orders, and made impactful visits to North Carolina and California.

These actions have solidified Trump’s image as the People’s President, fulfilling the mandate given to him by his electorate.

During the interview, Smith pointed out that Trump’s relentless drive has shown more tangible results in just a few days than what Joe Biden did throughout his entire term.

According to Smith, Trump’s actions demonstrate a commitment to his promises, contrasting sharply with Democrat priorities, which disconnected from the everyday concerns of most Americans.

“Here’s the deal… The man was impeached twice. He was convicted on 34 felony counts. And the American people still said he’s closer to normal than what we see on the left,” said the ESPN host.

Smith criticized the Democrat Party for prioritizing issues affecting the transgender community—an area he claims resonates with less than 1% of the population—over more pressing national concerns.

He argued that this focus has alienated many voters who feel that their critical issues are being ignored.

“He’s closer to normal. Why? Because something that pertains when you talk about the transgender community, for example, and you’re talking about the issues that pertain to less than 1% of the population, the Democratic Party came across as if that was a priority more so than the other issues.

“And so he comes in the office. Now you’re talking about childbirth, citizenship and what have you. He knows that’s not going to pass the mustard, but he knows that he made that promise,” Smith said.

Although he acknowledged that many of these orders might be overturned in courts, he stressed that Trump is fulfilling his campaign promises, a stark contrast to the Democrats’ empty promises.

“So when he shows up week one on Capitol Hill, and he says, ‘This is what we’re going to do through an executive order, even though it’s going to be shot down through the courts and what have you.’ He’s saying, ‘I kept my promise.’ A lot of other things that he’s going to point to that he’s going to try to do, ‘I kept my promise.’ Then you turn around and you look at the left and you say, ‘What promises did you keep?'”

Smith challenged viewers to consider the Democrat Party’s accomplishments, questioning whether they truly represent and fight for their constituents on Capitol Hill.

“Now, you might know the answer to that. I’m certainly not questioning your knowledge about that at all. What I’m saying is what resonated with the voter.

“What voter out there can look at the Democratic Party at this moment in time and say, ‘There’s a voice for us, somebody that speaks for us, that goes up on Capitol Hill and fights the fights that we want them fighting on our behalf.’ They didn’t do that.

“And that’s why they’re behind a home. And that man is back in the White House, and they want to sit up there. You look at the networks right now. They’re talking about, ‘Look at it. This is the latest. Look at him. Here he goes again.’

“Well, you know what ‘here he goes again’ means? He’s doing what he said he was going to do. He promised you he was going to do these things, and he walked in the office week one, and that’s exactly what he’s doing.

“He’s saying, ‘You all do something about it.’ When you try to do something about it, he’s going to say, ‘Look at them now. Now they’re concerned about these issues. Were they talking about that during the campaign?’ Hell, no. That’s really it.”

In Las Vegas speech, Trump floats eliminating federal income tax 'if the tariffs work out'

"Years ago, 1870 to 1913, we didn't have an income tax. What we had is tariffs," Trump says

President Trump said the U.S. could possibly eliminate the federal income tax if his tariff plans work out as intended.

"If the tariffs work out like I think, a thing like that could happen, if you want to know the truth," he said. "Years ago, 1870 to 1913, we didn't have an income tax. What we had is tariffs."

Trump also said the additional IRS agents the Biden administration hired could potentially move to the border.

"I think we're going to move them to the border. You know, they're allowed to carry guns," he said.

Trump touted his decision to desigate drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

"Biden didn't want to do that," he said. "Biden didn't know he was alive. He didn't want to do it.”

Existing home sales slipped to lowest level since 1995 as prices climb

On a monthly basis, sales of existing homes climbed 2.2% in December to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.24 million, the quickest pace since last February, according to most recent figures from the National Association of Realtors.

Sales of existing homes declined to the lowest level annually since 1995 while the median price reached a record high of $407,500 last year.

On a monthly basis, sales of existing homes climbed 2.2% in December to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.24 million, the quickest pace since last February, according to most recent figures from the National Association of Realtors.

Total existing-home sales — which includes single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and co-ops — gained 2.2% from November to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.24 million in December.

"Home sales in the final months of the year showed solid recovery despite elevated mortgage rates," NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun said. "Job and wage gains, along with increased inventory, are positively impacting the market."

Housing inventory at the end of December was 1.15 million units, down 13.5% from November but up 16.2% from one year ago (990,000). Unsold inventory stood at a 3.3-month supply at the existing sales pace, down from 3.8 months in November but up from 3.1 months in December 2023.

The median existing-home price for all housing types in December was $404,400, up 6.0% from one year ago ($381,400).

"The median home price was elevated partly due to the upper-end market's relative better performance," Yun said. "Sales rose by 35% from a year ago for homes priced above $1 million, while sales fell for homes priced under $250,000."

Real median household income was $80,610 in 2023, a 4% increase from the 2022 estimate of $77,540, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. It was the first statistically significant annual increase in real median household income since 2019.

The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.96% as of Jan. 23, that's down from 7.04% one week ago but up from 6.69% one year ago, according to Freddie Mac.
