The modern day Knights Templar is a masonic entity. It has nothing to do with the original Knights Templar which was a Catholic religious military order that protected the Christian treasures and sites in Jerusalem. The Catholic Order was trusted with people's physical gold and wealth because they took a vow of poverty and acted as reliable trustees for their wealthy clients. Eventually the Order was disbanded and the leader executed by the King of France. The remaining Knights were transferred to other military religious orders. The Masons stole the name and the mystique of the Knights Templar with their fake order.
