I've reviewed a few of these plane fag images, this one has a flight path of the helicopter.
It appears as a plane pic, but it's flight path has obviously adjusted a number of times in an impossible right angle turn for a plane.
You can clearly see the chopper pilot aimed at the plane, in what looks like a suicide mission.
It's really the only explanation, other than the chopper was remotely controlled and the pilot was just a passenger.
If there's no one more important in either of the passenger lists than figure skaters,
then this takedown was purely for narrative change.

One imagines it's not just that simple to hit a fast moving target.
Considering a chopper pilot doesn't train to hit moving targets,
it may have taken a few goes to get the hang.
In particular at night.
