PSA Airlines flight JIA5342, a Bombardier CRJ-701ER (N709PS), and a US Army Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter collided in midair and crashed into the Potomac River near Washington-Ronald Reagan National Airport, DC (DCA).
There were 64 people on board the plane and the three soldiers in the Army helicopter, according to American Airlines and a US defense official.
The CRJ-701ER was on a night time final approach to runway 33 at DCA at the time.

The first three show that there was a significant height difference between the planes and the helo.
Fourth time the helo turns to cross the final approach path of the planes rather like a pedestrian crossing a road busy with traffic.
Looks to me like they mistimed the crossing and got hit by the plane like a pedestrian getting hit by a bus.
