their office is in Tehran.
if you put your phone number and address down as the registered owner/admin/tech contact of a domain, you're the owner.
now - if you can find a single location on any of the Iran media pages where it discloses the affiliation with NYT, great.
but they don't advertise it.
that lack of disclosure is enough to cry foul…even if it's just "oh, we uh, lease office space and use their phone system a little".
but again - iran-daily (and the rest) have official offices in Tehran, not in NY. they were founded 2 years before the domain was registered - and they STILL chose to put down NYT contact information.
i've asked multiple sources/contacts at the NYT for confirmation or a comment. Crickets.
if it's innocent, they'd disclose immediately. oh, yeah, they lease a desk.
