The biggest launcher available can put about 70 tons to low earth orbit, velocity is about 7.8km/s at a height of about 100km.

Assuming the whole thing was dropped in one big wallop with aerodynamic minimal losses,

Kinetic energy is about 0.5 * 7800m/s^2 * 70000kg = 2.13x10^12 Joules.

Potential energy is about 70000kg * 100000m * 9.8 = 6.86x10^10 Joules.

Approx Total: 2.2x10^12

2.2 terajoules is indeed a mighty wallop. But it's well short of the energy of a 5.9 earthquake (pic related).
