Back when DDanon was in elementary school,we had the manager of a wildlife refuge center bring a baby lion cub (2 mo old) to our house. We invited several kids to come see it.

Anyhoo, our overly docile, incredibly loveable FLAT COAT RETREIVER (who peed on the floor every time a man walked in the room; never growled a day in her life at anything; loved every single dog, cat, person she ever met) went into full protection mode : hair raised on her back, low growl, moved in front of the kids and took "the stance" while staring down the cub.

Cub didn't know the dog was even in the room. Funniest (and heartwarming) thing I ever saw.

Good times.

Side note: manager told us the cubs cannot do home visits after 3 months of age, as they are going thru the terrible two's stage, and bite everyone and everything hard even during play. They can't risk a child being bitten. We lucked out on the home visit timing front.
