Christine Lagarde is talking up an "EU Digital Coin". That's rich, coming from a convicted fraudster.

Sauces:

Christine Lagarde

@Lagarde

The euro is key to our European unity. A digital euro, existing alongside cash, would future-proof our currency. It would be safe, easy to use and free of charge.

While the decision whether to issue a digital euro will be taken later, weโ€™re now launching the preparation phase.

Franceโ€™s Cour de Justice de la Republique found Lagarde guilty over her failure to challenge a fraudulent โ‚ฌ403 million (US$ 418 million) settlement to businessman Bernard Tapie in a dispute with the French government, according to media reports.

The court declined to punish Lagarde or give her a criminal record.
