As part of its annual report, the self-described “Planned Parenthood Canada” announced it helped a young non-citizen immigrant woman terminate a 24-week pregnancy at the stage where many babies can survive outside of the womb.

Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights released its 2023-2024 annual report last Monday. In it, the group mentioned its funding source of revenue and its impact through various projects, including the termination of a six-month-old pregnancy.

The group said between July 2023 and July 2024, its funding supported 504 clients in accessing “abortion care.”

The report details how the organization helped a 19-year-old who “found herself pregnant” and whose name was changed for the article to “Manpreet,” procure an abortion. Due to not being a Canadian citizen, the group said she struggled to access abortion services. When she reached out to Action Canada, she was reportedly 24 weeks along.

“We worked alongside Manpreet, navigating the healthcare system and finding a provider for her procedure when options seemed scarce,” the report said. “Despite the barriers, we secured an appointment for Manpreet. With the help of our fund, we were able to cover the costs of her procedure, removing the financial burden that had weighed so heavily on her.”

Pete Baklinski, the communications director for Campaign Life Coalition, thinks it’s outrageous that Canadian tax dollars are going to an organization that “gloats” about procuring an abortion for a pre-born baby that could be viable without its mother.

“At 24 weeks, the baby is fully developed, fully formed, working organs, reacting to the mother’s voice, reacting to light, everything is formed and functioning,” Baklinski told True North.” “Most, most people would recognize that at this point, having an abortion is, yes, you are killing a fully developed human being that is able to live without the mother.”

Two of the premiers who have been at the forefront of Canada’s border security enhancements have called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to name a fentanyl czar. “Enough’s enough,” said Ontario Premier Doug Ford, who argued that while his provincial government was making serious border enhancements, the Liberals were asleep at the wheel.

Man charged in historic superlab drug bust makes second court appearance

Gaganpreet Singh Randhawa, the lone person charged in connection with a massive drug “superlab bust” in Falkland, B.C. last fall, made his second court appearance on Monday.

He was arrested on Oct. 25, 2024 after RCMP investigators executed search warrants on what turned out to be a massive drug superlab in Falkland, as well as other locations in Surrey. The raids were part of a series of coordinated actions across the Metro Vancouver and North Okanagan regions.

While executing those search warrants, police dismantled what they described as the largest and most sophisticated drug superlab of its kind, seizing 54 kilograms of fentanyl, 390 kilograms of methamphetamine, 35 kilograms of cocaine, 15 kilograms of MDMA, and six kilograms of cannabis, along with huge quantities of precursor chemicals.

In addition to the drug haul, investigators confiscated 89 firearms, including 45 handguns, 21 rifles, and multiple submachine guns, many of which were loaded and ready for use. Officials have identified nine of these firearms as stolen.

The searches further uncovered small explosive devices, large stockpiles of ammunition, firearm silencers, high-capacity magazines, body armour, and $500,000 in cash.

This isn’t Randhawa’s first run-in with the law. In 2016 he was convicted in Burnaby for dial-a-dope trafficking. During sentencing he told the judge he tried to leave the drug business but was threatened with death by his “bosses,” who went unnamed. Continue…

Insolvencies in Canada reach 15-year high, driven by small business

Insolvencies rose 12.1 per-cent last year compared with 2023, primarily driven by small- to medium-sized businesses.

Canadian business insolvencies saw a pronounced increase of 28.6 per cent last year, compared with 2023, according to data from the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy.

It’s worth noting that last year about 375 insolvencies occurred each day, marking a 15-year high across both business and consumer sectors.

Businesses that suffered the most were construction, food services, accommodation, transportation and warehousing.

However, “mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction showed decreases in the number of insolvencies,” it said.

Canadian Minister Calls for Removal of ‘Savior’ from Core Christian Beliefs

The Rev. Brent Hawkes, a gay rights activist and Canadian clergyman at the Metropolitan Community Church (MCC) of Toronto, has argued for the removal of the word “Savior” to describe Jesus Christ because the word is a “stumbling block” for many.

Rev. Hawkes, senior pastor emeritus of MCC and Founder of Rainbow Faith and Freedom, said that years ago there was one word in the church’s bedrock beliefs that “began for me to be uncomfortable, problematic,” and that word was “Savior.”

“I would hope that someday this church would see the possibility of changing that word because it is a stumbling block for so many who want to be here,” he said in a sermon posted on X this week, noting that he was “raised a strict fundamentalist Baptist.”

“It is a stumbling block for people to do interfaith work — how do we explain that word with Muslims and to Jews and to Hindus?” asked the reverend, who has been married to another man since 2006. Continue…

Any Ukrainian official who signs a peace deal with Russia recognizing Moscow’s sovereignty over Kiev’s former territories will likely be killed either literally or politically, former Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba has warned.

Peace negotiations remain stalled. Moscow has maintained it is open to talks but has insisted that Kiev should renounce its NATO ambitions, recognize the new “realities on the ground” and withdraw its troops from all Russian territories.

Ukraine, on the other hand, has refused to hold talks until Russia withdraws its troops from territories Kiev claims as its own, including Crimea, and has insisted on security guarantees from the West.

In an interview with Ukrainian journalist Natalya Mosiychuk last week, Kuleba pointed out that finding any sort of wording for a peace settlement between Moscow and Kiev would be incredibly difficult, particularly with regards to the territorial issue.

“A person who signs a document renouncing NATO still has a chance to survive physically and politically, but a person who signs an agreement relinquishing territories will either be killed or ousted from politics,” the former minister claimed

“I see it as an extremely difficult task to find formulations that will describe the territorial issue in such a way that it will stop the war and at the same time not lead to an internal revolution,” he added.

At the same time, Kuleba, a staunch supporter of Ukraine’s membership in NATO, has stated that Kiev should under no circumstances change its goals of joining the US-led military bloc and re-establishing Ukraine’s 1991 borders. He suggested that Kiev needs to play “the long game and if we give up something, then at an exorbitant price.” Continue…

Tighter conditions for accessing social programs a less favorable economic climate are reportedly pushing migrants to Germany

Ukrainians are increasingly leaving Poland for Germany, motivated by higher wages and better access to social benefits, the Ukrainian information portal InPoland has reported. Warsaw has stated that it will not accept any more immigrants amid growing discontent with Ukrainians among Polish taxpayers.

“One of the main reasons for Ukrainian refugees moving from Poland to Germany is that higher wages, social benefits and better healthcare make Germany more attractive to refugees,” InPoland wrote on Saturday.

Stricter conditions for access to social programs, as well as “economic factors” have “become decisive causes for this migration wave,” the site noted.

In recent months, officials in Warsaw have claimed that Polish taxpayers are becoming fatigued by the sight of Ukrainians flaunting flamboyant lifestyles rather than returning home to help fight against Russia. On Monday, Interior Minister Tomasz Siemoniak stated that Poland will stop taking in migrants, despite being bound by an EU pact on migration adopted last year.

Last month, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk backed a bill to stop benefit payouts to refugees, including Ukrainians, unless they live, work and pay taxes in Poland. Continue…

A federal judge in Seattle sentenced a Mexican national to prison on Monday for his role in an "extremely dangerous" human smuggling scheme, which involved using freight trains to smuggle illegal migrants through the US-Canada border. Jesus Ortiz-Plata, 46, of Mexico, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. The defendant pleaded guilty in December to felony conspiracy to transport certain aliens for profit, court records show.

Ortiz-Plata had been living in Independence, Oregon, and was working on a farm at the time of his arrest on May 23, 2024. He will likely be deported from the United States back to Mexico, where he was born, upon the completion of his prison sentence. US District Court Judge James Robart expressed little sympathy for the defendant during sentencing, stating that Ortiz-Plata's "extensive career" as a human smuggler demonstrated a "callous" disdain for human life, which may have resulted in grave bodily injury or death. A Winnipeg man is facing multiple charges after allegedly attempting to stab a pastor during a Sunday evening service at Holy Ghost Parish in the city’s North End, according to Winnipeg Police Service (WPS).

WPS officers responded to the Selkirk Avenue church around 6 p.m. CST after reports of an armed suspect.

Police stated the man approached the 38-year-old pastor at the altar while holding a knife.

“As the suspect approached the pastor, luckily he was able to see this, whether he saw he had a knife or his sixth sense kicked in, and he was able to avoid getting assaulted by the suspect,” said Constable Stephen Spencer, Public Information Officer with the WPS.

“So the pastor actually ended up running off the stage.”

Controversy is spreading online after a Fox News contributor said a recent hot-mic moment involving Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may be a deliberate act of manipulation.

On Friday in Toronto, Trudeau said over hot-mic that U.S. President Donald Trump's talk of making Canada the 51st state was "a real thing."

He suggested Trump is interested in Canada's critical minerals and resources, saying, "I suggest that not only does the Trump administration know how many critical minerals we have but that may be even why they keep talking about absorbing us and making us the 51st state."

Trudeau also mentioned Trump has "it in mind that one of the easiest ways of doing that is absorbing our country."

According to Fox News' Guy Benson, Trudeau may have wanted the audio released in order to boost his popularity — and that of the Liberal Party of Canada — setting Liberals up as Canada's salvation against Trump before an upcoming federal election.

"I have another theory here, by the way, I'm not sure that was an accidental hot-mic moment from Justin Trudeau," said Benson in a broadcast.

"I think Trudeau knows exactly what's happening, and he wants to pump the threat of an annexation of Canada because he believes that can help his party. They have been floundering in the polls. They've been down for a year and a half to the Conservatives by 20 points."

Benson added, "But the idea that maybe scary Trump from the U..S would try to overthrow Canadian sovereignty could be this political lifeline to the political left in Canada."

"And I think that's why he's going to hype this," said Benson. "There's a political advantage potentially there for the Liberals up in Canada to use that threat in the elections, upcoming."
