NED paid at least $65k to corrupt journalist Fernando Villavicencio who fabricated a front page story claiming that Assange secretly met Trump’s campaign manager Paul Manafort in the embassy.
The false reporting coincided with CIA actions against Assange and was used as the basis for warrants and diplomatic pressure on Ecuador, ultimately leading to his arrest.
