Medvedev slams Zelensky’s claim about US aid as ‘brazen lie

Billions have vanished into the pockets of “kleptocrats from Washington to Kiev,” according to the former Russian president

Ukrainian leader VladimirZelensky’s recent claim that he is unaware of the whereabouts of more than $100 billion of Western aid funds allocated to Kiev is a “brazen and cynical lie," former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has suggested.

In a Telegram post on Monday, Medvedev, who now serves as the Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, accused Zelensky and his associates of embezzling significant sums. “In a fit of candor, the Bandera regime’s boss admitted that he and his cronies had siphoned off $100 billion,” he stated.

This follows after on Sunday, in an interview with AP, Zelensky claimed that Kiev received just over $75 billion in military and other types of assistance out of the $177 billion military aid approved by Washington under the Joe Biden administration.

“That is, $100 billion of these $177 (or even $200 billion, some people say) we never received,” he insisted. “But when they say that Ukraine received $200 billion during the war to support the army – this is not true. I do not know where all this money is. Maybe it is true on paper, there are hundreds of different programs –maybe, we do not argue, we are very grateful for everything. But we received more than $70–76 billion, something like that,” Zelensky claimed.

Medvedev, in response, alleged that themissing funds benefited individuals in both the US and Ukraine, implicating entities such as the US Department of Defense, CIA, and military contractors. In his post on Monday, he also claimed that “billions stolen in both cash and weapons” are now “popping up all over the globe.”

The hundred billion lined the pockets of all kinds of kleptocrats from Washington to Kiev.

Medvedev expressed skepticism about any forthcoming accountability, stating: “The thieves will pardon themselves. Biden has already started the process.”

Medvedev suggested thatElon Musk’s “naive yet respectable attempts to investigateideologically camouflaged theft at USAID [US Agency for International Development], as well as corruption in aid to the failed state of Ukraine, will come to naught.”(I'm not sure Medvedev is correct, there are tools Elon has that no one knows about)

Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has been involved in efforts to dismantle USAID. He has publicly described the agency as a “criminal organization” and asserted that it’s “time for it to die.” President Donald Trump accused the agency’s leadership of being “radical lunatics” and has proposed major changes to the organization.

Medvedev concluded that despite potential condemnations and hearings, “aid to Kiev will continue under a reissue of the Reagan motto ‘peace through strength.’” (Wrong about that)

Kremlin comments on bombing of Russian school

The attack in Sudzha was a “heinous provocation,” presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said

The recent Ukrainian missile attack on a boarding school in the Russian town of Sudzha was a “heinous provocation,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday. The town has been occupied by Ukrainian troops since August, when Kiev’s forces launched an incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region.

On Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministryaccused Kiev’s forces of targeting the school, stating that the projectiles that struck the facility had been fired from Ukraine’s Sumy Region, calling the attack a “war crime.” The exact death toll is unknown but is feared to be in the dozens.

The ministry has suggested that the bombing was aimed “at diverting global attention from the atrocities committed by the Kiev regime in the village of Russkoye Porechnoye [in] Kursk Region,” whereUkrainian forces allegedly killed eight women and at least 14 other civilians.

Commenting on the Sudzha attack on Monday, Peskov said that he had nothing to add to the ministry’s statement about the tragic event. “It was a heinous provocation by the Kiev regime,” he stressed.

Ukraine has denied attacking the school and has blamed the Russian military instead. Kiev has also rejected the accusation of atrocities in Russkoye Porechnoye, dismissing the allegations and highly disturbing footage from the site as part of Moscow’s “disinformation campaign.”

The Russian Investigative Committee has charged in absentia Colonel Rostislav Karpusha, commander of Ukraine’s 19th Separate Missile Brigade, with ordering the attack on the boarding school, where civilians were present.

Ukraine started its large-scale Kursk incursion last summer. Although the offensive was promptly halted and Russian forces have been pushing the Ukrainian troops out, liberating several settlements in the past few weeks, Kiev still occupies parts of the region. Moscow has accused the Ukrainian occupying forces of committing numerous atrocities in the area.

Trump demands rare-earth metals from Ukraine

In exchange the US would continue to provide Kiev with support in its conflict with Moscow

Kiev will have to supply Washington with rare-earth minerals if it wants to continue receiving American assistance, US President Donald Trump told journalists on Monday. Ukraine will need to enter a new agreement with the US, he added, calling it a “guarantee” for Washington.

According to the 2024 World Economic Forum report, Ukraine “holds immense potential as a major global supplier of critical raw materials” that could be “essential” for defense, high-tech and green energy industries. The nation boasts the largest titanium reserves in Europe, amounting to 7% of global reserves. Before the escalation of the conflict with Moscow in 2022, Ukraine was a key titanium supplier for military industries.

The list of rare-earth metals that can be found in Ukraine also includes beryllium, manganese, gallium, uranium, zirconium, graphite, apatite, fluorite, and nickel. The country also possesses Europe’s largest confirmed lithium reserves, estimated at 500,000 tons. The mineral is particularly important for use in batteries and accumulators.

“Ukraine has very valuable rare earths,” Trump told journalists on Monday. According to the president, the US was “handing them [Ukraine] money hand over fist” and wanted some “guarantees.”

“We are looking to do a deal with Ukraine where they are going to secure what we are giving to them with the rare earths and other things,” he added.

Last week, Trump halted all aid programs run by USAID, a soft-power agency that distributes billions of dollars each year for projects that promote US interests around the world under the premise of humanitarian development. The agency oversaw numerous aid schemes in Ukraine.

In response, Ukrainian MPs appealed to the EU to replace the lost American aid, calling foreign assistance “an important part of our path to democratic development and sustainability.” They also stated that Ukrainian recipients of American grants had been hit “worse than it may seem.”

Vladimir Zelensky told AP in an interview published on Sunday that Kiev had received just over $75 billion in military and other types of assistance from Washington. He was commenting on an earlier statement by Trump that the US had provided Kiev with “$200 billion [worth of assistance] more than the EU.” Zelensky claimed he had no idea where that estimate originated from or where the money could have gone.

Since 2022, the US Congress has authorized roughly $175 billion for Ukraine, but a significant portion of that funding has gone to American industries and various US government activities related to the conflict.

According to Germany’s Kiel Institute for World Economics, as of October 2024, the US had provided Ukraine with some $92 billion in financial and military assistance, while EU nations and the UK had allocated $131 billion.

(==Blackrock and others have stolen those reserves, and Zelensky is now lying to the US. I suspect this is a test for Zelensky by Trump.)

Why did Zelensky choose war with Russia, when Ukraine could be the richest country in Europe wih valuable minerals?
