It looks like a basic training/boot camp graduation ring. You could contact Parris Island or Jostens (the company that makes the military rings), since you have his unit, graduation date, and initials.
In the Army there is a Jostens location on Fort Benning to make the rings for graduating soldiers, I would guess Parris Island does as well.
