A 2014 archived USAID report
proudly states that the agency funded research on "novel bat SARS-like coronaviruses" at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
These newly identified coronaviruses were found to bind to the human ACE-2 receptor, suggesting the potential for direct transmission from bats to humans.
Similarly, SARS-CoV-2—the virus responsible for COVID-19—exhibited a highly efficient ability to bind to the ACE-2 receptor, significantly enhancing its ability to infect humans.
The USAID report states:
"In China, PREDICT partnered with USAID and set up long-term collaborations with the Wuhan Institute of Virology."
"PREDICT isolated for the first time SARS-like coronaviruses from bats sampled in China, fully characterized the whole genome of two novel bat SARS-like coronaviruses, and demonstrated a bat SARS-like coronavirus with 99.98% sequence homology to SARS coronavirus. The virus was found to bind to the human ACE-2 cell receptor, suggesting that direct transmission to humans from bats is possible."
"PREDICT has found a surprisingly high number of positives of SARS-like coronaviruses in bats sampled in China. Several of these viruses were novel, and some bats tested positive for multiple novel viruses."
"PREDICT investigators also isolated for the first time and characterized the binding receptor from a SARS-like coronavirus from a Chinese horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus sinicus; Ge et al. 2013). A second type of bird flu has been found in U.S. dairy cows for the first time, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced on Wednesday.
Until recently, all dairy herd detections in the U.S. had been infected with a form of bird flu, or avian influenza, known as B3.13.
This version of bird flu, known as D1.1, has only ever previously been detected in wild birds and poultry, indicating that it has now spilled over into cows.

PANIC🥴: Reps. Judy Chu (D-Calif.) and Gwen Moore (D-Wisc.) barged into House Speaker Mike Johnson’s office unscheduled on Wednesday and challenged him about Elon Musk's team gaining access to a sensitive payment system at the Treasury Department.
Their intrusion, amid an escalation of Democratic backlash against Musk's sweep through the federal government, came shortly after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent arrived at the speaker’s office to discuss how to implement President Donald Trump’s tax agenda.
However, Moore said that Bessent was not in the room when she and Chu confronted Johnson.
“Gwen Moore forced her way in there, and then I got to go in right behind her,” Chu told reporters. “And she was already confronting Speaker Johnson about Treasury Secretary Bessent and the stealing of Americans’ private information, tax information that should never be stolen and given to this billionaire Elon Musk.”
"In the face of incredibly rude, extremely aggressive and frankly unhinged behavior, the Speaker was more than gracious and allowed the members into his personal office to hear their concerns," said the person, who asked not to be named to freely discuss the matter.

🇬🇱Greenland has called a snap general election for March 11 amid Trump's claims of an intention to take over the island, The Guardian reports.
The proposal was made by the island's prime minister and supported by parliament.
"We are going through a serious period. A period that we have never experienced in our country. Now is not the time for internal divisions," said Prime Minister Mute Egede.
The Guardian writes that the upcoming election campaign will focus on Greenland's desire for independence, the island's economic development and relations with Denmark and the United States.
Let us recall that all parliamentary parties supported the island’s independence from Denmark, and not its accession to the United States.
