Interesting. The device apparently was just in 1 room. My guess would be the oval office and if it has been in there for a long time and Q named it "satan" it sounds like some type of mind control device which might require long exposure before it actually has an effect on the target. Some cabal extra insurance tool to keep any puppet president in deep control if blackmail wouldn't work for some reason?
Whatever it was, I'm glad they removed it.
