Argentina's President Bans Gender Care for Minors

Argentina’s president has signed a decree banning gender care for people under age 18, a presidential spokesperson said Wednesday.
The announcement comes days after a massive mobilization of the LGBTQ+ collective in repudiation of President Javier Milei’s speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos last week, during which he slammed “wokeism,” feminism, and referred to homosexuals as “pedophiles."
Presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni in a statement to the press announced the repeal of a 2012 gender identity law provision allowing such practices with parental or guardian consent.
“Gender ideology taken to the extreme and applied to children by force or psychological coercion simply constitutes child abuse,” the government of the far-right president said in a subsequent statement. “Children do not have the cognitive maturity to make decisions about irreversible processes.”

Sen. Democrats Stage Overnight Protest Against Russell Vought
https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/russell-vought-trump-senate/2025/02/05/id/1198000/

On Wednesday afternoon Senate Democrats began what they insist will be an all-night marathon of speeches protesting Director of the Office of Management and Budget nominee Russell Vought.
While many of Trump’s nominees have come under intense scrutiny during confirmation hearings the past month, none have drawn the ire of Democrats like Vought, whose association with Project 2025 and past statement on the 2020 election have some calling him Trump’s “most dangerous nominee.”
Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii said most of the Senate Democrats will take the floor to voice their opposition. “We’re going to have more than 35 United States senators on the Democratic side, opposing Russ Vought’s nomination,” he said.“We’re going to take the floor for 30 hours,” he said, referring to time allowed for debate under Senate rules, before going on to describe Vought as the “architect of the dismantling of our federal government.”
Last week Republicans on the Senate Budget Committee voted 11-0 to advanced Vought for a confirmation vote this week. Democrats boycotted the panel’s vote with Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore. calling him “dangerously unfit for office.” Merkley kicked off the Democrats marathon session just after 2pm ET on Wednesday. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Vought will be opposed by “all 47 Democrats” which includes the two independent senators who caucus with the party. “And we will take the floor early this afternoon and spend the whole night discussing how bad this nomination is and how it badly affects working families,” he said.
“And of all the harmful nominees, of all the extremists that Donald Trump has elevated, of all the hard-right ideologues who have come before the Senate, none of them hold a candle to Russell Vought. He is far and away the most dangerous to the American people, Schumer said in his remarks.
One of the deepest points of contention with Vought is his claim that the Impoundment Control Act is unconstitutional, a 1974 law that requires the president to submit a request to Congress to withhold funds. Last week Trump ordered a temporary pause on federal grant, loan and financial assistance programs with the White House saying the freeze is to ensure "every penny that is going out the door is not conflicting with the executive orders and actions that this president has taken."
In November, Trump nominated Vought with the intention of cutting spending and regulations in his second term. “Russ knows exactly how to dismantle the deep state and end weaponized government, and he will help us return self governance to the people. We will restore fiscal sanity to our nation, and unleash the American people to new levels of prosperity and ingenuity,” Trump said.
Yup, nothing out there at all concerning that meeting.
You look at this pic of Mexico's NG, and have to wonder how many are cartel members.

More Than 40,000 Govt Workers Take Buyout as Deadline Looms
https://www.newsmax.com/us/layoffs-doge-buyout/2025/02/06/id/1198020/

Millions of U.S. government workers face a Thursday deadline to tell the Trump administration whether they will accept a buyout offer or remain in their jobs, but still face the possibility of being thrown out of work if they decide to stay.
President Donald Trump's aggressive drive to reduce the size of the government in a matter of weeks is unprecedented. It has caused turmoil in the U.S. capital, and sparked protests and union warnings that it might violate multiple laws.
More than 40,000 federal employees had accepted the buyout offer as of Wednesday night, according to a source.
It is not clear how many of the federal government's 2.3 million civilian employees will ultimately accept the offer, which promises to pay their salaries until October if they resign by Thursday.
Others are fighting the proposal in court.
Unions representing federal workers sued to block the "deferred resignation program" last week. A federal judge in Boston is to consider their request at 1 p.m. ET (1800 GMT) on Thursday.
Those who do not accept the offer have been told their jobs could be at risk as the administration moves ahead with its overhaul of government operations.
The buyout encompasses not only employees at domestic agencies like the Department of Labor that have traditionally drawn the ire of Trump's Republicans, but intelligence agencies like the CIA as well.
The buyout is part of a government overhaul, which is being led by Trump's billionaire adviser Elon Musk. It has resulted in purges of personnel in a number of departments and has significantly scaled down America's main humanitarian aid agency, the U.S. Agency for International Development.
More cuts are likely. One source at the Office of Personnel Management said officials upped their demand for layoffs Wednesday from 30% to 70% of all staff.
Trump's lieutenants at the Justice Department have already fired prosecutors who worked on cases involving Jan. 6, 2021, and have demanded the names of up to 6,000 FBI agents who were involved.
The White House says it is following through on Trump's campaign promise to cut wasteful spending and slim down a bureaucracy that many conservatives see as left-leaning and unresponsive to the president's agenda.
Democrats say the effort is illegal, as the U.S. Constitution gives Congress authority over spending matters.
"Everyone is stressed and frustrated. The mood is awful," said one worker at the Department of Health and Human Services, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Republican lawmakers, who control both chambers of Congress, have cheered the effort, and Democrats have been unable to stop it.
All 47 Democrats in the U.S. Senate are expected Thursday to vote against confirming Trump's pick for White House budget chief, Russell Vought, but he is still expected to win confirmation with support from the chamber's 53 Republicans.

Lawmakers Push to Ban DeepSeek From Government Devices

Lawmakers will introduce a bill Thursday to ban DeepSeek from U.S. government-owned devices over growing alarm the chatbot application is providing user data to the Chinese government, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Rep. Darin LaHood, R-Illinois, and Josh Gottheimer, D-New Jersey, the top legislators on the House Select Committee on Intelligence, wrote the bill.
It mirrors the TikTok ban that Congress passed in April 2024, which went into effect on January 19, 2025, and that President Trump granted a 75-day extension to find a U.S. buyer.
“Under no circumstances can we allow a CCP [Chinese Communist Party] company to obtain sensitive government or personal data,” LaHood said.
“This should be a no-brainer in terms of actions we should take immediately to prevent our enemy from getting information from our government,” Gottheimer said.
DeepSeek has an embedded code than can send user login information to China Mobile, a Chinese state-owned telecommunications company that is banned in the U.S., according to Ivan Tsarynny, CEO of cybersecurity company Feroot Security.
“Our personal information is being sent to China,” Tsarynny said. “There is no denial — and the DeepSeek took is collecting everything that American users connect to it.”
A number of federal agencies, including the U.S. Navy and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, have already blocked DeepSeek over national security and privacy concerns.
Australia excluded DeepSeek from its government computers and devices Tuesday, citing similar data security concerns. South Korea’s defense ministry on Thursday announced it has prohibited the DeepSeek tool from computers used for military purposes. Italy banned DeepSeek in January.
Congress first restricted TikTok from government devices in 2022 as part of a spending bill, over fears that the Chinese government was siphoning data from government officials.
TikTok has repeatedly denied sharing U.S. user data with the Chinese government.
DeepSeek did not respond to a request from The Wall Street Journal for comment.
The DeepSeek chatbot is now the most downloaded app in the U.S.
