A US government-controlled group did the research that linked Rudy Giuliani to former Ukrainian prosecutors
The House of Representatives impeached President Donald Trump on December 18, 2019, after a White House whistleblower went public with evidence that Trump abused his powers by withholding military aid to Ukraine in order to dig up dirt on his rival, Joe Biden. In the complaint, the whistleblower claimed to have heard from White House staff that Trump had, on a phone call, directed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to work with his personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, to investigate Joe Biden and Hunter Biden. The whistleblower who triggered the impeachment was a CIA analyst who was first brought into the White House by the Obama administration.
Reporting by Drop Site News last year revealed that the CIA analyst relied on reporting by a supposedly independent investigative news organization called the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), which appears to have effectively operated as an arm of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which President Trump has just shut down. The CIA whistleblower complaint cited a long report by OCCRP four times.
The OCCRP report alleged that two Soviet-born Florida businessmen were “key hidden actors behind a plan” by Trump to investigate the Bidens. According to the story, those two businessmen connected Giuliani to two former Ukrainian prosecutors. The OCCRP story was crucial to the House Democrats’ impeachment claim, which is that Trump dispatched Giuliani as part of a coordinated effort to pressure a foreign country to interfere in the 2020 presidential election, which is why the whistleblower cited it four times.
In a 2024 documentary that German television broadcaster NDR made about OCCRP’s dependence on the US government, a USAID official confirmed that USAID approves OCCRP’s “annual work plan” and approves new hires of “key personnel.” NDR initiated and carried out the investigation with French investigative news organization Mediapart, Italian new group Il Fatto Quotidiano, Reporters United in Greece, and Drop Site News in the United States.
However, according to a Mediapart story published the same day as the Drop Site News article, NDR censored the broadcast “after US journalist Drew Sullivan, the co-founder and head of the OCCRP, placed pressure on the NDR management and made false accusations against the broadcaster’s journalists involved in the project.”
On December 16, Drop Site’s Ryan Grim posted a link on X to the 26-minute-long documentary. “NDR, Germany’s public broadcaster, is facing a censorship scandal and has defended itself by saying it never killed a news report about OCCRP and its State Department funding — b/c no report was ever produced to kill,” said Grim. “That was absurd — and dozens, maybe hundreds, of journalists knew it to be false, and now of course, someone has leaked it.”

Gaza is a wasteland of 50 million tons of rubble and debris. Rats and dogs scavenge amid the ruins and fetid pools of raw sewage. The putrid stench and contamination of decaying corpses rises from beneath the mountains of shattered concrete.
There is no clean water. Little food. A severe shortage of medical services and hardly any habitable shelters. Palestinians risk death from unexploded ordnance, left behind after over 15 months of air strikes, artillery barrages, missile strikes and blasts from tank shells, and a variety of toxic substances, including pools of raw sewage and asbestos.
Hepatitis A, caused by drinking contaminated water, is rampant, as are respiratory ailments, scabies, malnutrition, starvation and the widespread nausea and vomiting caused by eating rancid food. The vulnerable, including infants and the elderly, along with the sick, face a death sentence.
Some 1.9 million people have been displaced, amounting to 90 percent of the population. They live in makeshift tents, encamped amid slabs of concrete or the open air. Many have been forced to move over a dozen times.
Nine in 10 homes have been destroyed or damaged. Apartment blocks, schools, hospitals, bakeries, mosques, universities — Israel blew up Israa University in Gaza City in a controlled demolition — cemeteries, shops and offices have been obliterated.
The unemployment rate is 80 percent and the gross domestic product has been reduced by almost 85 percent, according to an October 2024 report issued by the International Labour Organization.
Israel’s banning of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East — which estimates that clearing Gaza of the rubble left behind will take 15 years — ensures that Palestinians in Gaza will never have access to basic humanitarian supplies, adequate food and services.
The United Nations Development Programme estimates that it will cost between $40 billion and $50 billion to rebuild Gaza and will take, if the funds are made available, until 2040. It would be the largest post-war reconstruction effort since the end of World War Two.
Israel, supplied with billions of dollars of weapons from the U.S., Germany, Italy and the U.K., created this hell. It intends to maintain it.

The Trump administration’s moves to shutter the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has exposed its long-standing ties to billionaire plutocrat George Soros’s global network. USAID had been channeling taxpayer money into Soros-affiliated non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for years, some of which have received scrutiny for allegedly pushing leftist ideologies under the guise of “democracy promotion.”
The East-West Management Institute, a beneficiary of both USAID and Soros’s Open Society Foundations (OSF), was granted over $260 million in taxpayer money, ostensibly bolster the “rule of law” in countries like Georgia and Serbia—often cover for promoting legal and political opposition to conservative and non-NATO aligned governments.

IDF reservist gets 7 months behind bars for abuse of Palestinian detainees

An IDF reservist who served as a guard at the Sde Teiman detention facility during the war in Gaza was sentenced on Thursday to seven months in jail for abusing Palestinian detainees, as part of a plea deal.
The army said the reservist, Staff Sgt. (res.) Yisrael Zakaria Hajbi, was convicted by a military court of beating detainees with his fists and weapons on several occasions while they were blindfolded and handcuffed.
“These acts were committed in the presence of other soldiers, some of whom called on him to stop, and were even recorded on the defendant’s cellphone,” the IDF said.
The military said Hajbi admitted to the acts in a plea deal and was sentenced to seven months in jail, along with a suspended sentence.
He will also be demoted to the rank of private, the lowest rank in the IDF.

Several Palestinians Killed By Israeli Forces in Gaza Despite Ceasefire

An Al Jazeera correspondent said a child was killed by an Israeli sniper, which came a few hours after a Palestinian was shot and killed by Israeli forces east of the city.
Another Palestinian died due to wounds sustained on the first day of the ceasefire in Rafah’s al-Shaboura refugee camp. The Times of Israel put the death toll in Gaza higher, saying Palestinian media reported four were killed by Israeli forces on Wednesday.
The Israeli military acknowledged that it opened fire on Palestinians in several areas of Gaza.
In each incident, it acknowledges, the Israeli military claims its troops opened fire on an “imminent threat,” but in one incident, IDF troops shot and killed an unarmed Israeli contractor who was dressed in civilian clothes simply because he was walking toward Israeli troops, demonstrating the free rein Israeli soldiers have to fire on civilians.

Israel Bombs Southern Lebanon Town of Yaroun as Demolitions Continue
Displaced Lebanese civilians continue to try to return home despite Israeli threats
Israel’s demolition of civilian homes and infrastructure continues in southern Lebanon, despite the ongoing ceasefire. On Wednesday, this centered on the town of Yaroun, in the Bint Jbeil District, where Israeli bombings were reported.
The bombings were reported as the “systematic demolitions” of homes in the residential part of town. This isn’t new, as Israel has been burning and bombing residences across southern Lebanon throughout the ceasefire.
Although these incidents have been widely reported, Israel has typically not commented on them. The villages the IDF has withdrawn from so far have been virtually destroyed, with the vast majority of homes gone and the infrastructure ruined.
In towns like Yaroun, signs warn civilians to stay away, and Israeli snipers are positioned on the outskirts to ensure they don’t approach while this occupation/demolition goes on. Some 70 days into the 60-day ceasefire, displaced civilians have grown impatient, with many eager to return home while there’s still a home standing.
Increasing numbers of displaced are trying to return despite Israeli threats, despite the fact that Israel has killed dozens and wounded over 100 in recent weeks. Many anticipated that January 27, the designated day for complete Israeli withdrawal, would be a “Day of the South,” a celebration and return to the area after occupation.
This was derailed when Israel shot many of the returnees on January 26-27, and, indeed, never actually withdrew. The “ceasefire,” with all its continued shooting and burning, was extended by the US and Israel to February 18, and now there is substantial concern that this date will be kicked further down the road.
With little international effort being made to help those displaced, many southern Lebanese feel they don’t have a choice but must try to go home. That’s risky, because Israel will likely shoot at them and declare their attempts to get home a “provocation.”
Israel’s ongoing strikes continue to take victims as well as causing structural damage. A 7-year old child was reported as a victim of an Israeli drone strike earlier during the extended ceasefire. Injured on January 29 in Majdal Selm, the child succumbed today.
Citing more than 800 Israeli ceasefire violations, Lebanon has taken the matter to the UN Security Council in an official complaint. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun also met with the French ambassador to urge the French government to pressure Israel to stop violating the ceasefire and to actually withdraw from Lebanon by the February 18 deadline.
Earlier during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, France was very critical of Israeli attacks on UN peacekeepers in the country. Ultimately though, Israel reacted with anger to that criticism, and dismissed the French complaint, so it’s not clear whether increased French pressure will have any impact on the occupation.

Israel has pledged to withdraw from the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), hours after the departure of the United States. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has accused the council of attacking a democratic country and propagating anti-Semitism.
In a statement posted on X, the top diplomat criticized the UNHRC for allegedly disproportionately targeting Israel while allowing human rights violations in other countries to go unpunished.
He noted that Israel is the only nation with a permanent agenda item in the council and has faced over 100 condemnatory resolutions, more than 20% of all resolutions passed, surpassing those against Iran, Cuba, North Korea, and Venezuela combined, he said.
Israel is also the only nation that acts like this.
North Koreans are not doing a mass bombing campaign against children.
The council “obsessively demonizes the one democracy in the Middle East—Israel,” Saar wrote, adding that “Israel will not accept this discrimination any longer!”
Israel’s announcement follows the US withdrawal from the UNHRC on Tuesday. US President Donald Trump left the body during his first tenure back in 2018. Announcing the move, the US president also pledged to reevaluate Washington’s relationship with other UN agencies over their stance on Israel and an anti-American bias.
This idea that every nation should have the exact same outcomes as Israel or it’s antisemitism is literally the exact same thing as saying that if blacks are not proportionally represented in prisons and in the tech industry, the only explanation is racism.

Note how unctuously Trump slips the question of who will live in Gaza—not once, but twice. In the above video, a reporter asks Trump if Jewish settlements will be built in Gaza: Trump pretends he didn’t hear them, and answers the question under the pretext it was Palestinian settlements that were asked about.

Trump Vows to Sanction International Criminal Court with Executive Order After Senate Democrats Block Bill Targeting ICC for Witch Hunts Against U.S., Israel
President Donald Trump is poised to sign an executive order on Thursday, wielding the might of American sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC).
This development follows the ICC’s issuance of arrest warrants in November 2024 for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes during Israel’s military operations in Gaza.
The ICC alleges that Netanyahu and Gallant employed “starvation as a method of warfare” by restricting humanitarian aid and intentionally targeting civilians—charges that Israeli officials have vehemently denied, labeling them as false and antisemitic.
Other accusations are:
Wilfully causing great suffering or serious injury to body or health contrary to article 8(2)(a)(iii), or cruel treatment as a war crime contrary to article 8(2)(c)(i);
Wilful killing contrary to article 8(2)(a)(i), or Murder as a war crime contrary to article 8(2)(c)(i);
Intentionally directing attacks against a civilian population as a war crime contrary to articles 8(2)(b)(i), or 8(2)(e)(i);
Extermination and/or murder contrary to articles 7(1)(b) and 7(1)(a), including in the context of deaths caused by starvation, as a crime against humanity;
Persecution as a crime against humanity contrary to article 7(1)(h);

President Donald Trump’s decision to impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) follows the recent blockage by Senate Democrats of a Republican-led bill aimed at sanctioning the ICC for issuing arrest warrants.
On Tuesday night, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill aimed at sanctioning the ICC for issuing arrest warrants against Israeli leadership, with a vote of 247 to 155. All opposition came from Democrat lawmakers.
Despite this, the bill was ultimately thwarted by Senate Democrats, leading to Trump’s decision to act unilaterally with sanctions.
According to Reuters, the executive order will authorize financial and visa restrictions on individuals and their family members who assist in ICC investigations involving U.S. citizens or allied nations, including Israel.
A White House official stated, “The United States will not stand idly by as the ICC targets our citizens and allies with politically motivated investigations.”

The 125-member ICC is a permanent court that can prosecute individuals for war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and the crime of aggression against the territory of member states or by their nationals. The United States, China, Russia and Israel are not members.
