Federal Judge Blocks Leftist Efforts to Prevent Elon Musk and DOGE from Accessing Department of Labor Data
In a decisive legal victory for the Trump administration’s initiative to streamline government operations, a federal judge has denied a motion by labor unions to block the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, from accessing sensitive systems within the Department of Labor.
The lawsuit, brought by one of the largest labor unions in the U.S., aimed to obstruct what they described as Musk’s “imminent plan” to delve into the Labor Department’s systems.
On Wednesday, the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations, along with four of its affiliated unions and the Economic Policy Institute, filed a lawsuit to block Elon Musk and his DOGE team from gaining access to Department of Labor data.
The unions argued that such data sharing would violate the Privacy Act of 1974 and potentially jeopardize the privacy of workers across the nation.
“Elon Musk has absolutely no business raiding the Department of Labor to obtain the sensitive personal information of workers,” said AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler.
“It’s outrageous that Musk thinks he has the authority to access private data on workers from an agency that’s entrusted with protecting the fundamental rights of working people. With this lawsuit, we intend to stop Musk’s power grab cold.”
However, U.S. District Judge John Bates, an appointee of former President George W. Bush, saw through the thinly veiled attempt by the left to handcuff efforts aimed at rooting out government waste and fraud.
Judge John D. Bates ruled that the plaintiffs failed to establish standing, a crucial legal threshold required to proceed with their claim.
The court found that the unions did not provide sufficient evidence showing that their members faced imminent harm from the DOGE Service’s data access.
Moreover, the court highlighted that while the plaintiffs articulated general concerns about data privacy, they did not demonstrate specific, individualized harm necessary to satisfy legal standing requirements.

>the systemic radical leftist activist judges are uniting in lawfare subversion
Agreed. But this is a rightwing judge blocking radical lefties from who are trying to stop DOGE.
How long before all these USAID beneficiaries get hit with RICO indictments.
