Planefag report on spoopy 2-WFBA that came from the coast of Morocco 4+ hours ago.

Its transponder data is inconsistent: reports altitude as GND, but speed as 280 knots and it's over water according to lat/long.

This plane is very suspicious.

Over.

Trouble over IL - T38 Talon squawking 7700. Monitoring.

By now anons probably all know that 7700 means "in-flight emergency" and that pilots occasionally send that signal by mistake. It certainly means air traffic control will prioritize them for whatever they need.

"The Northrop T-38 Talon is a two-seat, twinjet supersonic jet trainer. It was the world's first supersonic trainer and is also the most produced. The T-38 remains in service in several air forces. The United States Air Force operates the most T-38s. In addition to training USAF pilots, the T-38 is used by NASA."

These T38 aircraft are commonly seen all over the US, especially near airbases where they are typically used for pilot training.

The T38 is no longer squawking but it is apparently being escorted (both planes have an identical course). Descending toward Madison, WI, presumably for safe landing.
