>What makes silver and gold better is that there is a limited supply, you can't just print more like crazy governments want to do. The ancients did perfectly well with plain old gold and silver.

what makes gold and silver totally impractical is that the coins wear out

i have old liberty quarters that are so worn down that you can no longer see the engravings

you need replacable paper money, but there has to be a one-to-one correspondence between the number of bills in circulation and the gold and silver in the treasury

>Why is it always lawyers?

the laws are written by lawyers who deliberately make them all but impossible to make sense of unless you're a lawyer

sounds like conflict of interest, if you as a non-lawyer non-politician

>If they just pulled the worn out ones from circulation after showing signs of wear, resmelt, restamp.

fucking DUH!

the worn down coins WEIGH LESS than when they were minted

over time, all of the precious metals would be irretrievabley LOST

how fucking STOOPIT can you be?

>BAN LAWYERS FROM HOLDING PUBLIC OFFICE

require a PhD in a physical science or engineering to hold office

we were not allowed to drive until we could change a tire

we live in a world utterly dependent on technology

maybe the people making laws should UNDERSTAND it themselves, instead of trusting "experts"

>Yeah, but the cyanide gas that comes with it is kinda a downside to me

you been reading commie propaganda again?

the overwhelming majority of single use disposable plastics contain only C, H, and O

plastics containing N or halogens are reserved for semi-permanent applications, like PVC pipe

or ABS car bumpers

even so, they do NOT release cyanide if the fire gets adequate oxygen

plastics are made from petroleum

we OUGHT to pass a law that all plastics have to be shredded and added to the coal feedstock at power plants

ALL prohibition in the form of statues are unconstitutional, article IX

why do you think "the" prohibition against alcohol was a constitutional amendment?

because that was easier than passing a law?

back then they knew damned well the SCOTUS would NEVER have let a prohibition statue stand
