A renowned Aussie junior tennis coach has been charged with a number of child sex offences - including rape.

Ryan Keith Kebblewhite, 38, was mentoring talented youngsters during a tournament at the KDV Sport Centre on the Gold Coast on Sunday, February 9 when he was arrested.

It followed a detailed investigation into allegations of multiple historic child sex offences on the Gold Coast as well as in Adelaide, according to News Corp.

'Police will allege the man repeatedly offended against a child, known to him through involvement in a sport academy,' a police spokeswoman said.

'Police have now charged a 38-year-old Burleigh Heads man with two counts each of rape and indecent treatment of a child under 16, and one count of grooming child under 16 years.'

In a message sent to parents this week, KDV Sport Tennis Academy manager Ross Taylor confirmed 'an ongoing situation involving one of our staff members' resulted in an employee being stood down.

'A police investigation is currently under way and, as a precautionary measure, the individual will be stood down from their duties while the matter is fully investigated,' he said.

'As this matter is under investigation, we are unable to share specific details at this time until a full investigation has been conducted.

'However, we want to emphasise that we are taking this situation very seriously and the staff member is being fully co-operative with police.

'Your trust and satisfaction are incredibly important to us, and we will keep you updated with any relevant developments.

'We greatly appreciate your understanding and continued support during this process.'

Area 51 rocked by earthquake as seismic activity around mysterious testing site ramps up

A 2.8 magnitude earthquake that rattled Las Vegas Monday hit just miles from the secretive US Air Force base Area 51.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) says the quake struck 32 miles southeast of Beatty that sits about 60 miles from the mysterious military facility.

Area 51 has become a cultural phenomenon thanks to decades of conspiracy theories connecting the base to UFOs, aliens, and experimental aircraft testing.

The announcement of a large tremor right on the base's doorstep will likely ramp up the speculation of what might be happening underground at this top secret facility - even if this was just an ordinary earthquake.

The small earthquake was detected at 2:11 a.m. PST Monday.

Although an earthquake above 2.5 in magnitude can often be felt and cause minor damage, there have not been any reports of injuries due to the quake.

Nevada is one of the most seismically active states in the country, according to the National Parks Service.

Officials say it ranks third after California and Alaska because of the state's many faults, found at the base of almost every mountain range.

The 2.8 magnitude quake near Area 51 - and less than 80 miles from Las Vegas - wasn't even the largest seismic event in Nevada in recent months.

A 5.7 magnitude earthquake shook northern Nevada on December 9, 2024.

It was the largest quake since May 15, 2020, when a 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck the Monte Cristo Range.

Nevada experiences thousands of microearthquakes each year, according to Shakeout.

'Earthquakes in Western Nevada are caused by the extension that is pulling Nevada apart and wrenching created as the Sierra Nevada is pulled to the north because it is caught up in the Pacific-North America plate motion,' the site explains.

If you're hoping to ask someone at the secretive military base about the earthquake, think again.

Area 51 is not accessible by the public and is even off-limits to regular military air traffic.

In fact, a Google map of the area where Monday's earthquake took place will show you nothing at all - no base or mention of the Air Force's presence in the Nevada desert.

Man and woman charged over the alleged rape of child after dramatic arrest at Queensland caravan park

Police have charged a 37-year-old woman in connection with the alleged rape of a child in Queensland.

The charge follows the arrest of 50-year-old Bradley Jetson, who was taken into custody when police raided a caravan park in Mackay Harbour, central Queensland, on January 15.

Jetson was charged with 22 offences, including the supply of drugs to minors and grooming children, Queensland Police said.

It will be alleged that the 37-year-old woman assisted in transporting one of Jetson's victims and had knowledge of the offences that took place.

The woman was arrested on February 9 and remanded in custody and is due to reappear in Mackay Magistrates Court on February 12.

The woman has been charged with three counts of rape and one count of indecent treatment of a child.

Footage of the police raid on Jetson's caravan shows a detective storming in.

Detectives sat Jetson up, placed him in handcuffs, led him outside, and arrested him.

Following Jetson's arrest, officers searched the caravan and uncovered a pile of needles, drugs, and other paraphernalia, all of which were seized as evidence.

'It will be alleged the man supplied dangerous drugs to a girl under the age of 16 and sexually assaulted her,' Queensland Police said.

'It will be further alleged the man groomed a second girl under the age of 16 with the intent to engage in a sexual act.

'It will be alleged the man further supplied dangerous drugs to two other children.'

Jetson was hit with 22 offences, including six counts of supplying dangerous drugs to minor under 16 years, three counts each of rape and possessing drug utensils and two counts each of grooming a child under 16 years to facilitate procurement of a child to engage in sexual act.

He was also charged with using the internet to procure children under 16, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing drug utensils and one count each of using carriage service to groom another person to make it easier to procure persons under 16 years of age.

Jetson did not seek bail during his appearance at Mackay Magistrates Court on February 3.

He remains in police custody and his next committal mention in court is scheduled for April 7.
